I'm not retarded but Art Briles is an offensive genius and someone will give him a job. We don't know all the details of what ART knew or didn't know. He's only human and it's possible for humans, people to make mistakes, come back,be forgiven and redeem themselves ! I would give him a chance. It would be typical of LSU to let a championship calibur coach slip away and then come back and haunt them for a very long time.
he sheltered and enabled rapists, and you consider that a "mistake".
wow.
and yes, we do know the details by the way, anyone with google can find them. start on the links i posted above.

I'm feeling better and better every day about him being our HC. He's obviously not my #1 choice, but I wouldn't be upset about the hire either. He's an absolute defensive genius.
I didn't realize he was actually the primary recruiter for JaCoby Stevens, too. He's not a recruiting coordinator or anything, but he's not incompetent in the attribute either.
We need to try to get a top candidate obviously, but I will hate watching him walk out the door.

Accidental downvote. My apologies.

Give him the head job hire Art Briles as OC and his son..
If LSU hired Art Briles, I—an LSU fan, alum, and season ticket holder—would never attend nor watch another game, I'd throw everything purple & gold in the trash, get rid of my tickets, and find a team in another conference to follow. I'm not exaggerating.
We are better than hiring a guy who enabled his players to commit serial rapes. If you can look past that, you need to take a long, hard look in the mirror and totally re-evaluate your life.

I just don't see him as a HC. He's a quiet cerebral guy who doesn't like the limelight or recruiting that much.
I tend to agree. Would make a better pro HC, similar to Belicheck, couldn't see either being the recruiter or the booster glad hander

LOL I love the gif! Good one.
Somebody just needs to photo shop a Baylor hat in there.
Maybe LSUFreek can do it.

Aranda is definitely one of the top defensive minds in college football right now. Would he be a good HC? Not even he knows that right now. But he really doesn't come off as the type that wants to stand behind a podium multiple times a week and field questions from "journalists" or the guy that wants all the attention of being the face of a major program. He's always come off as the guy who is X's and O's, watching film late at night, if the offense does this we need to do this.

I don't think people realize elite defensive minds like Aranda aren't easy to come by...if Herman and Jimbo are off the table, I'd be fine with promoting him. He's a guy I'd be willing to gamble on.

the man wants to be a HC, guys like chavis are the exception to the rule, people need to quit kidding themselves thinking otherwise.

he was a hot name before last week. i don't think he's at lsu past 2017.

Yet we've had Kirby Smart, Will Muschamp, Bo Pelini, John Chavis, now Aranda all on staff here the last 10ish years...

Man I love Aranda as our DC. I just don't know how I feel about him being the HC. Take it with a grain of salt but Alleva said he is not hiring a coach with no head coaching experience

Yeah, I pretty much feel the same way. I know he's a great DC, but he hasn't even coached a full season in the SEC. And with Alleva saying that, the search would probably have to reach disaster level before Aranda would get a shot.

I said elite....while I think most of those are highly regarded, I'm of the belief aranda is better.
Posted on 11/8/16 at 2:10 pm to BilJ
Aranda may end up better, but those guys have been considered elite defensive minds for the better part of a decade. Just look at the first HC jobs they all got...
Posted on 11/8/16 at 2:35 pm to MasterAbe1
I bet he ends up as an NFL DC before he becomes a head coach. Saints could use him...

quote:but that was before we all saw how good he is. heres the S&P+ defensive ratings for every defense back to 2005. only 2011 had better numbers than what Aranda has done in his first year.
