Crowton: Greatest LSU offensive coordinator ever?

I think so. He doesn't have an offense that is just one style. I think he could run anything from West Virginia to USC. At Tech, they ran a drop back passing offense. You've seen what his offensive style was at Oregon with Dennis Dixon. Our offense this year was way better than Jimbo's and that was in just one year. If he was here for several years, we would be unstoppable. I hope whoever we hire considers keeping him.

The problem with Crowton's offense as well as many other coaches offense that run the spread is that once they get figured out their screwed. Crowton always does great his first yr and then over the next few yrs he fizzles out and is looking for a new job.

That would be a no. Way too discontinous. Offense looks desperate at times when he gets too cute, and then he puts together a drive that makes you say "wow, just wow."

If he can't figure out that when Ark has three down lineman and one LB when we go shotgun spread with one back, and if we run its 5 on 4 then he's not the greatest ever.

Anyone curious to see how things play out if he sticks around and starts to get players that fit his offense? That's just what I wonder. Right now he is working on implementing a new system AND working with players tailored to Jimbo. Personally I think this offense would have the potential to be INSANE good once if he sticks around and really puts his own touch on things. Thoughts?

I like Crowton as well.
The chronic problems w/ WRs not lining up correctly are somewhat understandable when you have a first yr OC, a first yr WR coach, and are replacing your #1 and #2 WRs from the year before...and I didn't even mention #9 missing half the season.
He's experienced w/ the spread, so I like that he'd have the flexibility to work more of it into the offense if/when we have the players to run it.

That's called strategery. The things that don't appear to make sense are Crowton setting up that "wow" drive. Seems to work, if you ask me.
