There was a pretty insightful post last week about the 2018 and 2019 recruiting classes and how ineffective they’ve been at LSU on the whole. Save a few studs, most left or haven’t seen the field.
Great recruiter =/= on field success. I’d rather quality players that stick around and build a foundation for the future than the current NFLSU where we only get 0.8 seasons of play.
I’d take Aranda for the long haul. No doubt.

Not great recruiter guarantees no championship though. Data backs it up.

His class is currently ranked #33 with 1 four star and 18 three stars. Granted it's Baylor but that's nothing to get excited about.
What type of classes do you think Baylor should be pulling?
Out of all Power 5 teams in TX, they're at the bottom in terms of prestige. 25th ranked class is about their ceiling.

The data says you don’t have to be the best recruiter, you have to be proficient. If success breeds success, there’s a reason why the same teams end up at the top of the heap year after year.

Aranda would be a disaster. Hiring a non-recruiter to battle for kids with the likes of great recruiters like Saban, Jimbo, Kiffin, Kirby and so on would sink this program even further.
If he hadnt previously coached at LSU, his two seasons at Baylor would not even give him a look for the job. Nepotism hires rarely work.

Not a good enough recruiter

Lost to a full grown man and to a dead man walking.

Kirby didn’t scheme so all he had to do was recruit. He was treated like a defensive coordinator under a defensive HC that didn’t have to scheme.

TCU interim coach > Dave Aranda

TCU's interim is Jerry Kill, who is a pretty damn good coach, if you've never heard of him.
TCU and Baylor are also rather heated rivals, so shite can, and will, happen when they play each other.
If LSU needs to gamble, Aranda would still be my first tier 2 hire, if I were Woodward.
