UPDATE: Lance Thompson, not Nix, is now expected to get the vacant OLB job.

quote:

Alabama: Sources tell me that Tennessee defensive line coach Lance Thompson and Washington offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier have offers to join Nick Saban's staff. Both are expected to accept.

Wow what a difference in this thread to another one similar. MG provides where he got the info. The other thread starter makes it look like he got the info from his "insiders" directly.

WM had never met his new OC before hiring him.

TrollTyde is a phony, who has no connections, and goes by what he reads on message boards from the insiders. He's one of those posters that pretends to have info, but he's getting it from his membership to premium sites.

Is Nix a good hire for OLB?

Is he as good as Sunseri?

Not as good as Sunseri IMO.

I think Sunseri is one of the best in the business.

Truth

Although many Bama fans were sucked in during the verbal commitment frenzy at the All Star games. It was sad to watch

Oh, I get it. I've thanked all the Bama insiders for their information on the TD SECRecruiting board.

I picked up on his schtick a long time ago.

His talent to work with improves, just like when James Willis came aboard from Auburn.

Plus, what he would be teaching is half DE/LB and half LB/half on the bench...

Nix doesn't have to be all word at teaching the position. My question is, how about his recruiting.
Nussmeier didnt call plays but he is my favorite Candide so far.
Washington's red zone offense is really good and one of the things I really look at when a name pops up. (as if it matters what I think).

19 Alabama..... 13 58 51 281 24 8 19 .88
19 Washington 13 52 46 306 14 28 4 .88
...........games-drives-scores-points-rush td- pass td-fg-pct.

I have gone on record stating that I felt like he got his info from the BOL and Tidesports pay boards, but that I didn't care since he was saving me money.

Any hire to replace Sunseri would be coaching Alabama's OLBs, particularly the Jack LB (hybrid DE) spot. Kirby Smart coaches ILBs.

His recruiting role would be important too, and Nix is known as a solid recruiter. He's from Alabama and has ties in Mississippi and the Atlantic states.

His recruiting is outstanding. Probably on par with Sunseri, but the OLBs did not produce under him. Granted he didn't have as much to work with in 2007 and 2008.
