He has four more seasons of fully guaranteed money.

Still hilarious to think about the fact he was given a 5 year fully guaranteed contract.

When I became aware of that provision after the Troy game, I argued that fact alone was grounds for firing Alleva.

The buyout at the end of this year is $8.5M.

It still is. At best it's incompetence, at worst it's Alleva making Ed O (and thus himself) unfireable for at least a few years. That fully guaranteed contract was in no way what was best for LSU which is what Alleva is supposed to fight for. It's disgusting how obvious that is.

Is that accurate. I saw that his buyout goes down to 5 Million after December 1st.

"Orgeron’s buyout following the 2017 season is $12 million, and that number will drop to $8.5 million in 2018, $6 million in 2019 and $4.5 million in 2020."

I believe it is currently 8.5

Either Dec 1 or Jan 1. Might depend on bowl game appearance.

Not true. The buyout on January 1 was 8.5. It decreases based on the amount he's received this year. On October 1, his buyout will be around 5.875. On December 31, it's a little over 5.

Strangely, on January 1, 2019 it jumps up to 6. By the end of the 2019 season, it'll be under 3. In January 2020 it jumps back up to 4.5.

Or as Alleva would say, "perfectly crafted to jump to $6mil after only being $5 the month before"

Sounds about right. It doesn't really matter, practically speaking. Most coaches are fired in November and December, and with this contract, it's financially beneficial for LSU to do this.

It is also unreal that O has more incentives in his contract than Miles did.
