When's the last time it's happened?

Not counting an NFL stint in between or for example Richt being fired by UGA then hired by UM. Just resigning from a top 10 or so job to take another.

if this is about fisher, if were being honest you could argue that he would actually be downgrading

No, he resigned from UF, sat out a year or two (?), then went to OSU.

As the other poster suggested, yes, I am wondering about Fisher. It would be truly rare from my memory for the coach of a top 10 program to resign to move to coach another top 10 program.

I can't think of it happening in college football.

I can hardly think of a coach leaving an NFL franchise to coach at another, come to think of it.

It's extremely rare.

Not arguing pecking order in the top 10, sure some would argue FSU higher, others LSU. Just the rarity of that move.

We've seen moves from big schools to others like Sarkisian from UW to USC or Rodriguez from WVU to UM, but at those times and even now you didn't really view UW or WVU as top 10 jobs.

The one that comes to my mind is Gruden leaving a Super Bowl caliber Raiders team to coach in Tampa. But you're right, can't think of it happening often in the NFL either.

I guess it does beg the question how anyone could be upset with a Jimbo hire. It would pretty much be a coup.

I think if we get jimbo it's because of personal issues he will want to get away from there. I mean what was put in candi's mouth has to leave a bitter taste in Jimbo's.

That was... different.

Davis screwed with Gruden one too many times and Gruden finally said he'd had enough. As a result, he demanded to be fired or traded.

Kiffin.

Left the #9 all time winningest program to go to the 10th.

i dont FSU is a better job than LSU but a lot of people do, it has everything a coach could ever want and no bama.

That doesn't really answer my question. What does it have that LSU doesn't? You don't downgrade a program just because they play Bama. We're talking about a comparison of what each school offers the coach. So, again, specifically list how FSU is a better program than LSU.
