Personally, I'm kinda hoping we sway Munoz back to LSU. He was very instrumental in last year's offensive production and could be a very valuable "continuance" asset moving forward.

But I absolutely do trust O and E. They know what they need and I believe they want to keep our offense playing at a high level. After nearly two decades of frustration, they finally gave LSU fans what they'd been clamoring for, for years. I don't believe they want to slow that momentum because it made them legendary in a single season.

These guys understand that memories are short and that they better keep it up.

I agree. He may come from the pros or college, and I suspect that O has a short list of 3 ( with mutual interest) and one of those is Munoz.

I think for O to keep mentioning Munoz. Their must be mutual interest. Munoz probably hasn't moved his home yet and could have kids he doesn't want to move to new school out of state. He stayed at ULL for 10 years.

I hope he comes back.

Who recommended Sullivan?

Because that didn’t work out.

I am Not worried because if the new guy sucks there will be a new guy in 2021.

I trust O to make necessary changes till he gets it right.

Could there be a young coach or staffer with niners or chiefs that O and E are waiting on?

Mike LaFleur (brother of Matt LaFleur) is the PGC for the 49ers

So of course he'd leave a super bowl team for the same position in college.

I heard people mention his name a few times and I'm not quite sure he's the right fit. Much more of a West Coast 50/50 run/pass guy based on the 49ers and Falcons offenses he's coached. I know San Fran is in the Super Bowl but if you've watched them play this year, their offense looks nothing like ours or the Saints we got it from. Jimmy G literally only threw 8 passes in the NFC ship game. We can't go back to that style of attack. Also, he's only coached at small time programs before going to the pros so recruiting would be a question mark as well.

Haha who cares if he only threw it 8 times, that means they actually called plays that were working. Seems pretty smart to me. Why would you go away from what’s working?

Just to play devil's advocate. Munoz was there in 2018 WITH Burrow AND Ensminger, and the offense wasn't exactly explosive then. Is the logic that "they've learned from Brady" the basis for wanting Munoz? If so, couldn't they just get the same level of production out of Ensminger?

Now, I don't think Ensminger has any plans of reverting back to the 2018 approach. But I think what he really needs and WANTS is a young guy willing to help take on the burden of being OC. Steve was reluctant to take the position in the first place simply because of the amount of work and pressure he knew it would involve.

Point well taken.

Guess I'm optimistic that both E and Munoz did in fact learn a lot from Brady.

That said, I'd think maybe Munoz learned even more since he seemed to be much more directly involved with Brady's passing attack as opposed to the overall offensive gameplan that Ensminger had on the table.

Maybe wishful thinking, but more than anything it was Burrow's words during the Heisman speech that sold me on Munoz. He directly thanked Munoz for being so instrumental in his success, and I definitely take JB9's word for it.

I’ll be honest, if you work for a Shannahan it doesn’t matter how you feel about throwing the ball

FWIW we were a 52/48 pass run team.

We were just a lot better throwing the ball.

Because he did one job well, doesn't mean he would do a completely different job well. Would you hire a mechanic to paint your house?

This is true but the offense is still a FAR cry from what we previously ran in terms of its complexity. Joe Burrow’s don’t exactly grow on trees and it will likely be awhile before we are THAT pass heavy again. If we’re running a 50/50 offense and gashing teams through clever play calling I don’t really care if we’re aren’t chucking it quite so much. Some of those SF running schemes are freaking beautiful to watch and completely demoralize their opponents.

I'd paint it myself, as usual.

If I were unable, and my mechanic was able to paint as well as me? Hell yes.
