“8:50 p.m.: Consecutive tweets from Sports Illustrated‘s Andy Staples and The Gainesville Sun‘s Pat Dooley threw a bit of water on a Chip Kelly hire happening at this time. Staples was told “Kelly has not decided anything yet, but he has options,” while Dooley reports a Florida-Kelly marriage is “not a done deal.”

Chip would be a killer hire for Florida, but if he has a choice between Westwood and Gainesville, he’d be a fool to choose Gainesville.

Certainly not on football programs. But I'd love to see Kelly spurn UF, which I think is likely

Southern California, especially if you have millions, is incredible. Gainesville is a shitty swamp town. It is basically Thibodeaux, Louisiana with a bigger college.
It just doesn’t compare to LA.

Vastly overstated.
Florida is a much better football program at arguably the best AD in the country.
Both are huge brands and good schools.
I'm not terrible interested in defending UF here, but it's probably the objectively better job.
For Kelly, who is far more of a west coast guy and who would struggle dealing with SEC pressure IMO, UCLA is the better fit.

Chip Kelly: Earlier today multiple sources told FootballScoop UCLA representatives were scheduled to meet with Chip Kelly tomorrow. Florida officials reportedly met with him today. Tonight a separate source tells us Chip is not flying to Florida just yet….

Not every coach bases their decision on this, and considering that Kelly spent some time in a place like Eugene, it’s still tough to prove that one location would matter over another.

Not saying this isn't true, because I honestly have no idea what his actual preference is, but outside of his stint at Oregon he seems to be more of an East Coast guy. Hell he chooses to live in his home state of New Hampshire.

I think he liked coaching out west because he stayed there for so long but he really has been everywhere. New Hampshire, Oregon, philly, San Francisco, and that's just head coaching gigs.
