That salary would put him below James Franklin and just above Kirk Ferentz

IF UF decides to offer and IF he takes it, I could see him taking that. Due to his 49ers contract, he's going to make $6M in 2018 regardless so, in this case, UF pays $4.5M and 9ers pay $1.5M.
That would allow him to go after some big name assistants and then see his salary increase in year 2 or 3 (and allow UF to basically get out of McElwain's contract with almost no financial pain)

He's dumb as hell then. They'll be a ton of big jobs available, he should just wait until they're all open and make them bid. Tennessee and Nebraska would make UF up that number in a couple hours.

Yeah, but 1.5 million is nothing. It's not going to stop UF from paying Kelly what he wants.
But like I said, it's a 6 year deal with basically an open checkbook for assistants and very incentive driven contract.
