No offense intended, but is CS the best available DC?
What makes him different from Bo except he’s a few years older?
IMHO Bo failed in large part due to not having served as a DC in many years.
Who wants a repeat of that experience?

HC =/= Coordinator.
Sure, but how often does a DC who hasn't been good in a decade actually come back and have success?
This isn't personal towards Strong and perhaps I am wrong, but I just don't like the idea of it. I much prefer a defensive mind currently having success in today's college football. I suppose what have you done for me lately approach.

This. Do not want another “was a DC in a previous life” coach.
What didn’t we learn from the Bo debacle?
It blows my mind people aren't more cautious about the idea of hiring a failed HC who hasn't been a successful DC in quite some time.
I need to see current results before making that risk.. especially again. (After Pelini)

Thank you. I’d prefer hiring a guy currently in a co-DC role if it came to that vs. someone who’s not coordinated defenses for 10 years or more.
If every candidate fitting that profile says no, then you’re on to a Mason or Strong or someone with DC experience in their past.
Don’t hire someone based on their past, hire them on their present.

LSU doesn’t lack recruiting success, it lacks coaching to maximize the available talent.

Did Charlie Strong have good defenses the last 10 years when he was the head coach? If he at least had good defenses while being a shitty head coach, then he is worth a look however I don’t think that was the case.

He's 55 he'd be another Pelini. Hard pass
This isn’t a given, but it’s definitely a risk. He should be well down the list.

That would be the death blow for O and he would deserve it with Strong.

Actually, he’s not 55...he’s 60.

He’s a really good coach. Would be a good hire. Not my first choice but would be solid

But he's black so that fits the political narrative.

That would be a terrible mistake. He was fired as HC at Texas and USF. He is another loser we don't need.
It may be a great thing. He's an excellent coach and may stick around due to his lack of success as an HC.
