'What are you looking for?' Well, I'm looking for the next Lloyd Carr, obviously," said Bill Martin, the man in charge of finding Carr's replacement.

Well... there you go. They aren't interested in Miles because he's the anti-Carr. He's not boring, sedentary and stuck in, as one writer has so aptly put it, "a program of incest".

the older one was pretty decent.

but, i'd hate to break up a marriage just to get a little coaching scoop.

quote:

Del Rio took time off Friday night for the wedding of his stepdaughter in Amelia Island.

Lauren Del Rio, 24, is the daughter of Del Rio's wife, Linda, and a former LSU student. Jack Del Rio adopted Lauren after getting married in 1988.

Del Rio wouldn't discuss the wedding when asked Friday.

"Personal things aren't something I'm going to talk about,'' he said.

i saw it, i don't know if that was the younger or older one. Not bad at all, not great though. You'd date her, I wouldn't.

"Supah is right, Miles is not the type of guy those arrogant, wanna be Ivy Leaguers at UM want as the face of the school."

-Huh? You're kidding right? Have you guys been paying attention this season? Miles is Schembechler to a T all the way down to the hat! They do want him as the face of their program no doubt as to whether they are arrogant wanna be Ivy Leaguer's is beside the point...

Know his son-in-law. Didn't realize the girl was adopted, though. Interesting.

JDR's step-daughter has graduated, but his daughter is a freshman at LSU, I think she is a tri-delt. The family has a home in New Orleans where they live in the spring. In high school, the freshman went to school in Jacksonville in the fall semester, and went to Mt. Carmel, I Believe, in the spring semester.

wanna be Ivy Leaguers?

apparently you are unaware that Michigan was invited to join the Ivy League.

And just so you know-several presidents of the Ivy League Universities came through Michigan, and the other Big Ten Schools.

Jack Del Rio?? Really? That's who you folks are pining for?? Come on!! LSU can do MUCH better than Jack Del Rio! Its just that he is an NFL coach and should stay in the NFL! Spurrier, Fisher, Pellini, Tuberville anybody but Jack Del Rio!

Best case scenario...but it would be ridiculous to not speculate who might take over in the event (which is greater than a 50% change) that Miles leaves.

Bottom line: Miles is a quality human being and a very good coach. However, IMHO he is only as good as his coordinators, which currently are outstanding. Be honest: if LSU had lost 1, 2 or 3 of these close games, wouldn't a lot of Tiger fans be saying, Good riddance"? (Not me ... I hope Les stays.) The pisser here is the potential effect on the Tigers' NC run. Recruiting will not suffer one way or the other ... by the time of national signing date, this situation will be resolved. IF Miles does take the Michigan job, my assumption is that LSU will be able to hire a great coach ... be it Pinkel, Grobe, Leavitt, Del Rio (or perhaps even a so-called "big name" like Spurrier, Tuberville, Cowher).

My wild-arse speculation, and it's nothing more ... is that Miles probably will be offered the Mich. job, and, will accept it. I don't know when that will occur. As to the new coach, I don't think it is Skip or LSU's style to make a splashy hire (i.e., Spurrier, Tuberville, Cowher). I think (hope) that if we get to the point of hiring a new coach, it will be a solid, current D-1 coach like Grobe or Pinkel.

BigJ, Since my inferior wisdom led to two candidates that you do not agree with, why don't you stick your neck out there and give us your candidates? Since you have 34,000++ posts I thought that you would have already done that? Go away?? Why?
