Garrick McGee from Arkansas.
Yea, i heard this today. I think he would be a good head coach.

How much of an impact did he really have on the offense at Arky? I thought Petrino pretty much ran that show.
Posted on 11/28/10 at 4:42 pm to ProjectP2294
He looks at the defense and pretty much tells Petrino what play to run and what not. Very good QB coach also. This was his 1st year as OC after Paul Petrino left.

I don't know much about him. I read that he's a Petrino disciple though.

Btw, if we hire Garrick McGee or another black coach, does Jerry Baldwin have to give us reparations?
Posted on 11/28/10 at 4:44 pm to hendersonshands
Oh yeah, he is also one of the best recruiters in the SEC and country. He goes after all the big guys for Arkansas.
But he doesn't have any ties to ULL whatsoever.

Good. I read that he's interested in interviewing for the job. Another name I've heard was Mike Canales who was the UNT interim head coach.

I still think Orgeron is the best bet, due to recruiting, if nothing else. He knows Louisiana, and frankly, if you can't bring in any decent talent, any outsider will not make a difference, I don't care what kind of offensive or defensive wizardry you put on the table. Bring Orgeron back to Louisiana, I miss his antics anyway...

Rumor is that Ed O wants 800k and we aren't paying that.

More names -- Kirby Smart, Mark Hudspeth, Gunter Brewer

Think about it. Mississippi, smaller population, poorer state than us - the South Park "Kenny" of states - they have 3 prominent football teams: Ole Piss, Moo State, Southern Mrs. We have one (LSU). We have more per capita D1 talent than any state. Some LSU folks like to see the other state schools down. Not me. I am Louisiana proud first. Besides, it helps LSU rankings if we play an instate opponent that has a winning record (and better yet, goes to a bowl game).
Bustle was a joke. Why did ULL keep him so long. They need to hire the best coach possible. It's not like Lafayette and ULL don't have money. Puh-lease!
There's so much oil money there it's turkey stupid!
I say hire Malzahn. Pay him a cool million. He stays there for 2 years, maybe 3. Gets the program going, signs a lot of state kids that would go to Southern Mrs, Memphis, TCU, Middle Tennessee, Jacksonville, Tulsa, SMU.

We don't have a million.

My sources say ULL has 500k backed by local businesses to spend. Not sure if they can go higher. Coach O definitely interested but the money difference may be too much to overcome. I think O will take a pretty good pay cut to be a head coach again.

Yeah, I've heard in the range of 450-500 is the most realistic and we have the highest paid assistant coaches in the conference, so we should get good assistants.

What is your definition of "prominent?"

They have all been ranked in the top 25 at some point and won bowl games in the past 5 years.

I wasn't even thinking that high when I said "prominent". A winning record would suffice. Not loosing your homecoming to a winless team would suffice.

Bustle was only making 220,000 at ULL.

Most people want DeFo fired from Ok State and he's special teams coach. Brewer is a great WR coach, randy moss, rashaun woods, adarius bowman, dez bryant and blackmon are all WR's he's coached.
