I wouldn’t call him a white whale, but Cristobal would be a solid hire.

If you go far enough in one direction you end up in the other direction

Yeah Cristobal doesn’t fall under the “white whale” headline-grabbing hire

Good hire, good coach, good recruiter … but not a blockbuster hire IMO

I’ve seen Miles coach for 2 NCs and win 1

I’ve seen O win 1

I don’t have to have a blockbuster to expect to see a NC. Just give me smart, focused, dedicated, and willing to remain current . It’ll be better that the last 3 NC games coached I’ve seen at LSU.

The desire to have some weird ‘bragging rights’ for the name of the coach is superfluous for me.

I’m definitely not saying we need a blockbuster hire by any means

I’m just saying Cristobal doesn’t really fit in the “white whale” category.

I agree, we just need a good coach, period, regardless if it’s considered a splash hire. For discussion purposes, though, I don’t think Cristobal is a splash hire

Who called plays in 2017? Cristobal was Co-OC but everything I am Seeing is that the other guy took over play calling for the bowl game.

I just don’t see us hiring someone that can’t lock down one side of the ball

Cristobal is a good coach, but he’s by no means an offensive expert that calls plays. I think he’s only been coordinator one season (and co-OC at that)

I think the hire will lock down one side of the ball and be considered a genius on that side of the ball
