You're new. The request for a fee to upgrade your TD.com membership (which includes such treats as emoticons and the Classics board, among others) will be sent through e-mail shortly.

I was just kidding with ya, it's because there's so much traffic, having the emoticons now would make the site go slow (or shut down, like last night). And it wasn't my team who kept Les.

1. Whoa. They moved fast on Hoke. Miles really did tell Michigan "thanks, but no thanks".

2. Michigan fans: my advice is to just support the hire. Why? Two words: Gene Chizik.

So were the reports saying if Miles was offered the job he'd take it bull? I would like a real authentic story here explaining that

you will probably never get a real story on exactly who said what to who

JMO - a lot of what you get in these kinds of stories is informed speculation.... between that and posturing to save face from involved parties

But I don't think there's any doubt Miles was courted and seriously considered taking the Michigan job... I'm guessing that he's here to stay at LSU now tho

When can we expect to hear who his staff is going to be? The press conference?

If thats the case, then we can assume this has been lined up for sometime. I'd think putting together a staff takes some time, unless of course you are bringing basically everyone from your former school with you. Hope he at least brings back Fred Jackson, he didn't deserved to get canned in all of this.

Fred Jackson - RB coach
Scott Loeffler - QB coach
Al Borges - OC

I think someone mentioned a DL coach that we had previously was available as well..

DC could be Trgovac? cant remember the spelling but hes the dline coach for the packers and previously played and coached at michigan.

Apparently Michigan couldn't meet Miles demands. Rumor has it that he was asking that UM provide Sabans recruits.

The emoticons function here break from time to time. When that happens I treat them like any other picture I want to show up in my post. Namely right click, copy, paste in img tab.

Did Michigan ever look in conference? Iowa's Ferentz (born in Michigan), or any of the number of assistants at Penn State who are REALLY running that program, or Wisconsin's coach Bret Bielema or one of the top assistants at Ohio State?

Is it nice that he "gets" Michigan? Ya I suppose

Down here its more "Does he understand the SEC?"

Four coaches in recent memory who were laughed at when hired (Tubberville even said one of them would never win in the SEC bc BIG10 football wont work in the SEC... he was talking about Saban in 2000) and all 4 won the BCSNC: Saban, Miles, Meyer, Chizik

All 4 were said to NOT understand what it takes to win in the SEC, now they own the SEC

There has been mention of Hoke winning at SDSU this year. He struggled to beat UNM, same team Oregon beat by like 90, struggled to beat Wyoming and Colorado St, who are both terrible. At Ball St. he had five very, very bad or average seasons, and left as soon as he got lucky with a QB and a great run. SDSU is the only school in San Diego. They should have access to great recruits out there, and lets face it....A guy struggles to beat 3 of the worst teams in college football? As for his losses, BYU was what? 7-6? Utah proved to be a lot worse than usual. TCU game was a blowout made close at the end. Someone previously put it perfectly on Twitter: Hoke is a good coach. Since when is a good coach ok? Dave Brandon settled on a coach he is friends with. Three years from now, I am willing to be we wont be hearing Miles rumors. Best of luck next year to Miles and the Tigers! You guys are loaded and it should be a great run! I am off to my land of maize and blue and confusion!
