Has he, though? I never saw that quote. Certainly most assumed he didn’t like to recruit when he bailed for the pros. But don’t make up quotes. I’ll happily eat crow if you can link it.
quote:
The realities of recruiting hit Brady hard not long after he joined Coach O’s staff. He told The Athletic last year “I’m learning it (recruiting) never stops….I’m just looking forward to having a few days in a row in the same place”.
quote:
On Tuesday, The Athletic quoted a LSU staffer as saying that Brady “just didn’t enjoy the communication aspect and all the teenager shenanigans”. They also noted, however, that he didn’t slack on the recruiting aspect of the job. He did it, even though it wasn’t his favorite thing in the world. You can’t have that kind of attitude toward recruiting and be a longterm college coach. When you’re a college assistant, you pretty much have to love recruiting. It’s basically your life.

Everyone says this and nobody can link it

This is Bradys agent inserting his name into a high profile coaching search to spark is NFL candidacy when the season ends.
I'll say definitively, Woodward is not looking to hand over the program to a 32 year old first time head coach.
"BUT HE'S GONNA GET AN NFL HC JOB. WHYS HE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO BE LSU'S COACH!"
I'd argue an NFL head coaching job is much less involved and more focused on the coaching than the off the field administrative numbers/personnel bullshite you deal with in college. In the NFL, Brady can coach and he's got an owner and GM to handle administrative and personnel. In college, he's got to be THE recruiter, has to manage the numbers of his roster, manage teenagers in higher Ed courses and keep them eligible, deal with year to year turnover. A college job is just so much more involved in the intricacies of managing players.

Not quite the same as saying he hates recruiting. The rest is hearsay. And as HC, he wouldn’t be the one on the road all the time.

Would be a huge gamble, hes never run his own program
Sean McVay was never a NFL coach before the Rams hired him. Joe Brady would win big at LSU.

Lots of MOR serious candidates will use to get raises.

Says his agent
His agent will say this to try to get Carolina to give him a raise. Many coaches will be "interested" just to try to get a raise.
Les did it to LSU, but he was really interested in the Michigan job.

Has interest in pay.
LSU provides very lucrative “insurance” via its buyouts.
LSU needs to de-structure hangers on in its contracts

Dude hates recruiting. I don’t see that’s happening.

quote:It's not that he hates recruiting, he hates what he sees as extra travel that has to be done for recruiting. He loves dealing with recruits (e.g. Caleb Williams).
I started wondering (maybe foolishly) that the "he hates to recruit" narrative was more probably more of "he hates recruiting under Orgeron".
He's on the upward march in the NFL. Only way he comes back to CFB is if that becomes a downward fall for some reason.
