Second, there is increasing belief around the league that owner Jerry Jones is focusing on two primary candidates as replacements—former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

Garrett's job security has been speculated about many times before, and he has always survived. But this time, league sources say, the rumors feel different. Garrett, who's been the head coach in Dallas since midway through the 2010 season, would have to win a Super Bowl to keep his job, according to the sources.

Just because one is unsuccessful in their first go round as a HC doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t be a quality HC. That being said I wouldn’t hire McDaniels under almost any circumstance.

He had major issues with players respecting him in Denver. He's been great with the Patriots, but what assistant has done poorly there?

ETA: But the Cowboys haven't won shite in eons, and Jones is a dipshit owner, so have at it.

Didnt he step over a convulsing player to get to his office, or am I mistaking him for another failed NFL HC?

Well he was like 30 years old when he took that Denver job and they gave him full personnel control. Just way too much at once and he couldn’t handle it.

Reportedly he stayed in NE because Belicheck has opened up to show him more about what he does and how he handles things as HC in ways that he’s never showed any other assistant. Which tells me he’s not leaving NE

Not saying McDaniels will be either but Belichick was awful with the Browns and Orgeron was awful with Ole Miss

He didn’t say he was great with the browns, just that he wasn’t awful. They improved each year under him and he brought them to the playoffs. He had that team on track then left. Relative to other browns coaches he was solid.
