Harsin will do fine. I don’t know if Auburn will be better and I wouldn’t have paid someone 21 mil to go away to hire him, but he’ll do fine. It won’t be a disaster.

All things considered, I like the hire.

So this is the guy they expect to compete against Saban? Wow! I wish them the best but it doesn't look good, but then again Urban Meyer came from Utah so maybe they will get lucky!

I think he’s a damn good hire. I just kind of figured that he wasn’t attainable being from Boise and all. All in all, this is a win for AU.

They probably fell into a good coach though.
nobody heard of Gus or Chiz prior to them being hired
both were good coach
and Hugh Frieze, nobody heard of him before Ole Miss hired him...
so no names sometimes become big names
Nick Saban was a "who did we just hire?"

Yea if he hires a good staff with southern ties and doesn’t bring everyone from Boise this could work out.

Not a bad hire. I think it is very solid actually

id rather have cristobal or napier or freeze or kiffin or sark
Auburn would rather have those coaches too.

Nah. Saban's tree is terrible.

This guy is out of his element. Now, will he survive? We don't know yet but things don't look encouraging. But, I appreciate the confidence this guy has because he's now in the big leagues.

And one less SEC championship than your loser coach

And Cristobal and Napier were actively pursued and considered options at one point in time
I'd rather have harsin than steele, but he's not better than some of the other names auburn actively pursued
Well, he beat Cristobal head to head and I think he's actually very comparable to Napier.

But, this is the SEC and much of his job is about recruiting. This guy is an unknown commodity whereas Cristobal and Napier are southerners who are proven recruiters in the south.

Fair enough. I was just pointing out that he's no slouch.
Edit: Record and numbers wise, he's the most accomplished HC we've hired in my memory and I'm 49.
