For "final stages" of the search to replace Gene Chizik.

am I the only one who finds it odd that AU has someone who is currently a football coach in its committee?

We're not going for Franklin. Click the link.

Well it is, this has nothing to do with Franklin

AUBURN, Alabama – Auburn search committee members are in Nashville for what could be a final push leading up to naming the school's new football coach.

One of the search committee members, Mac Crawford, lives in Nashville, and that locale could provide a safe haven for the close-knit search committee that also has Athletics Director Jay Jacobs and former Heisman Trophy winners Pat Sullivan and Bo Jackson. Auburn has been in the market for a head coach since firing Gene Chizik last Sunday.

Auburn isn't there to interview Vanderbilt coach James Franklin, who won a contract extension and the promise of an upgrade of facilities from his school Sunday, according to people familiar with the trip.

It is not clear who Auburn has interviewed since Saturday's games that featured a handful of likely candidates. Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher spent Sunday in Tallahassee planning the Seminoles' trip to the Orange Bowl.

Id love to have Franklin. Only man to ever take Vandy to back to back bowls. He has Vandy competiting in the SEC when it is at its most dominate.

Th fact that theyre going to Nashville makes me think this is the guy and he's getting a second interview for them to offer. Could be wrong, though.

Or they're in Nashville because of Crawford's executive offices and multi-million dollar digs are located in Nashville

What if Jimbo was interviewing IN Tennessee today, not FOR Tennessee?

Good grief. The man just signed an extension. He's not going anywhere. Just like he has said all along.

If we offered he would leave. But we're not going to offer so nothing to worry about.

This made me laugh. I also thought it interesting he was on the committee.

Let's be real, though. The only person whose opinion matters, is Pat Dye.

Delusional. You don't know the first thing about him.

You saying if Auburn opened up the checkbook he'd turn them down?

Legitimately asking.

Not true. At least not anymore. He is pushing Smart as our next HC but I seriously doubt we hire him.
