Dang. I hope we don't go 3-4. Two years of recruiting 4-3 could hurt us.

IMO there is no way we have the personell right now to run a 3-4. I think that we would stay 4-3 even with Whitt Jr.

But you get in to the same position with Roof, hiring a guy that doesn't vibe with Chiziks style.

I am hearing if indeed Whitt is the man, we will still run a 4-3. That won't change.
I am concerned about when they could come on board. If they wait until after GB's season how are they going to have time to recruit?

This doesn't make much sense to me. Both guys are mainly 3-4... FWIW, we interviewed Mark Stoops from FSU today, too. AUGoldMine and wareagleextra both reported it via Twitter.

I agree, I just don't know how I feel about it... We need a guy that can fix this defense for sure. If Chizik doesn't make the right hire here, he may be on the hotseat in a year or 2. I'll be really pissed if our defense doesn't improve after all these great recruiting classes. There's no excuse for us to be this bad.

Whitt and Greene are both coaching 3-4 at GB, but both have played in 4-3 and Whitt has coached in the 4-3 as well.

Whitt coached the 4-3 at Louisville and Atlanta, so it shouldn't be a problem. While I don't want AU to go to a 3-4, I would like to see a 'hybrid' defense with some more exotic blitzes.

I wouldn't be against a 3-4 package, just don't want that to be our main defense.
