Arkansas DC Search

Next year Arkansas returns one the nation’s top QB’s in third year starter KJ Jefferson, the SEC’s best RB Rocket Sanders, and it looks like Kendall Briles is going to stay as OC. Offense should be good to great.
If Arkansas can field a decent defense, Arkansas could be a dark horse contender next year. This makes the Arkansas DC search one of the biggest assistant coach hires of this season.
So who are we thinking?
Brian Williams’ (Maryland DC) name has been floated, as well as some UGA assistants’ name. Williams is apparently one of the nation’s top recruiters and Arkansas could really use a DC with those recruiting chops.
Is Jim Leonhard a possibility?
The lack of any news on this front makes me think Sam has his guy, but has to wait. This makes me think it’s a UGA coach and Sam is being respectful to his former boss by not shaking things up during this recruiting and playoff prep period.
Leonhard is interim HC for Wisconsin. Since he has already announced he won’t be staying on for Fickell, I don’t see as compelling of a reason for him to stay quiet about his next move, but surely he knows where he is headed to by now, right?
What you baws think?

Personally I think Leonard heads down to Waco.

I doubt it’s a UGA coach. Lanning gave his notice last year in early December and still coached in the CFP. Kirby did the same when he left Bama. No reason to think someone else on staff wouldn’t do the same this year if they decided to leave.

They were leaving for head coaching jobs though. Assistants are less likely to make a move public until after ESD.

But this is the standard reason when nobody has been hired. It’s because you’re hiring the best possible candidate anyone can imagine but it’s secret for now. Can’t be announced yet
It’s why atm has no offensive coordinator
You’ll see. Just wait

I think he’s headed to the Packers. Zero chance Joe Berry is back and they tried to hire him last time

Contender for what? Curious where you see next year’s team?

Arkansas nearly beat West champ LSU this year without a QB. You tell me.

We're also losing All American Drew Sanders, starting TE, experienced o-line, Bumper Pool, and every WR. They might have a contest for student section to play vs Kansas.

And to be fair, Kelly overachieved with this group. Any honest LSU fan will tell you that. From a personnel standpoint we were definitely not the second most talented team in the league this year but he did a masterful job squeezing everything out of this team. Our lack of depth caught up to us the last 3 games as we had guys out with flu and various nagging injuries. No depth to account for those losses unfortunately.
Should be much improved next year in terms of talent and quality depth.
Sounds like y’all lose a lot of your leadership and better players.
Seriously what do you see next years team looking like for the hogs?

You’ll lose to LSU. You know it and I know it.

Hearing Tulane DC Chris Hampton has emerged as a strong candidate for the Arkansas defensive coordinator job. Hampton has made a big impact in a league championship season, and led the nation’s No. 15 defense and No. 2 in the AAC; and it’s No. 1 in 3rd down D in the league.

Can he recruit though? We don't need another Barry Odom.
