If Tilman Fertitta really wants to make UH into a power house to leverage for a Big12 invite, he’ll do what it takes to get Holgorsen.

Holgorsen and Fertitta are close friends, Holgorsen’s primary home is in Houston, and it’d be a rebuilding year in Morgantown.

This would be a perfect scenario. Aranda goes to Houston, kills it for 2 years. O hires t-boy to be his DC and we hire Aranda to be HC.

Houston wouldn’t have fired Applewhite after this season but they knew they had another bigger fish on the line. They would have given him one more. They found out Holgerson was in play and pulled the trigger. Holgerson would be a home run hire for them.

Why are people throwing out Aranda? Are there legitimate rumors or a connection between UH and Aranda that I don’t know about?

Houston has only had offensive minded HCs since the 60’s. Their football program isn’t great, but they are known for innovative offenses.

Bill Yeoman was a pioneer of the veer option in the 60’s. Soon, most colleges in Texas were running a variant. UH eventually earned an invite to the old SWC beacause of their sustained success on the field, led by their offense.

Jack Pardee succeeded him and implemented the Run & Shoot. UH one of the highest scoring teams in the nation during both eras with two very different offenses.

They've cycled through a lot of coaches since then, but all have been offensive minded.

I don’t see them switching philosophies. They didn’t fire Applewhite to bring in a defensive coach. However, they did have Herman’s salary bumped up to $3 million if he had stayed, so they are willing and able to go above $2.5M.

I agree with this. They already have someone lined up or Applewhite really screwed something up and they are trying to keep it under wraps

Your essentially saying Holgerson will be the next HC at Houston.

Would be crazy if the fighting Tillmans can pull DH from WV to UH.

Terrible look for the Big 12 if that happens IMO.

Tillman wants to do that to prove they are big time and try to get in the big 12.

Absolutely. Fans were disgusted after that bowl game. I still can't believe they lost as badly as they did. There were early warning signs with the TTU game and that was before all the injuries to the defense. The program was clearly headed in the wrong direction.

They really should. Aranda has earned it.
