Anyone think Freeman flew here to get a number for Kelly?

I'm positive we were willing to offer him MUCH more money than Notre Dame was. If he's truly a great coach, his future would benefit just as much being at Notre Dame as it would being at LSU. Do yall think Freeman used every bit of his "close to home" leverage to get the highest number possible out of Kelly? I just can't shake the feeling that we were used.

Yes it was all a leverage play. Wife is catholic and he wanted to stay in the Midwest. Just had to get money right.

Honestly I don’t give a shite want his intentions were. He made his decision and he will probably regret it.

Why did he tell his players at Cincinnati today that he was going to LSU?

I think Freeman likely wanted the LSU job and would have taken it. I don’t think so many sources would have said it was a done deal otherwise. LSU was obviously supremely confident it was done.

I believe his wife wasn’t too keen on moving and Freeman got his offer from LSU and went to Notre Dame and essentially said match it, or get close enough and I’m yours.

Yeah, Louisiana has a crippling shortage of Catholics.

So it would be leaked and notre dame would get off their arse. Just like Herman’s agent leaking he was taking the lsu job.

Well here’s another problem with the super coordinator model. If we’re paying top dollar , prepare to get used by agents who will use it against us

That was probably Freeman’s hope...that they would put up their best number that would result in him saying yes.

I dont feel like he used us. I bet it was a tough decision. They probably digested it all and were reticent to make a big geographic move.

Anyone who pearl clutches about this is a pussy.

It was a leverage play from the start mate. It happened too fast today, didn’t seem remotely conflicted

It certainly happened fast. Once Ed said he was the top choice, all he needed was the dollar amount to bring back to ND.

Literally every indication was he liked LSU more but the wife really wanted to stay up there if at all possible. It happens.

I honestly don't think he'd have used his players to create leverage. There are other ways to accomplish what you're suggesting.

I’m guessing we offered more, and he was interested in competing in the SEC, but family, and issues swirling around our university hurt us.
