Usually not a fan of 2, but Jones really schemed up last quarter of season. Wondering if BK might pair him with a White. Then White does LBs and Jones does a DB group.

ETA: in b4 muh Malveto

For those who don't know, White was Co-DC at UK.

I'd say this is ultimately up to White because he'd be lead dog even under a co-DC title thingy for Jones. If White really likes Jones and wants to keep him in the mix, cool.

Why can't Brian Kelly just run the program like he sees fit?

I mean, I wouldn't pay someone $9.5 mill a year to do something I know how to do better than them.

He will. Relax and don’t worry about Brian Kelly. He’s gonna do fine

There was someone with the title co-DC on the Kentucky staff, but White was the DC. LSU could have a similar arrangement with either Jones or Baker if they want to keep them and they want to stay in that capacity. I’m just not sure what the interest is on either side there.

Jones and Callaway should be co head coaches, frankly. They've earned at least that.

Mansome of the LSU fan base are borderline obsessed with the Rontae Jones and him being retained as DC.

And I’m sorry I just don’t get it. I’d much rather have someone with three times the amount of coordinating experience

People forget Brian Kelly is a defensive guy first. He’ll have a ton of input on that side of the ball.

I'll admit that I'm intrigued by Jones and what he accomplished the 2nd half of the season. It's possible that it was a mistake for Orgeron to hire an inexperienced coordinator for a school like LSU, but that having gained some experience it would be to our benefit to keep him on in the co-dc spot, with the understanding that the guy they bring in is the top dog. Not sure that would be advantageous to his career or not, but it could give him a chance to learn the ropes some more.

Ah it screwed him up, white could have done better being the lone DC in KY. Hope daronte stays on staff with some on field role but no co DC

Don't hate it, but White's not going to leave UK as the sole DC to be a co-DC at LSU. If he played his cards right he could probably get a HC job at a smaller program right now.

>Jones is inexperienced

Jones was literally a DC for 3 years in D2 ball. He had the #1 defense for 2 of those years at the D2 level.
