Any chance the USC job loses its luster?

With all the talk of NCAA sanctions headed to USC, is it going to be difficult for the Trojans to get a big name coach in there when Carroll is gone?

For the time being, probably so, especially if sanctions come down. But the USC job will regain its status after it all passes - too much tradition and money for it not to.

Top 3 jobs in college football will always be as follows and in no order:
1. USC
2. UF
3. Texas
These states are ate up with blue chip recruits and always will.

I think you left out some schools. UF, Texas, and USC have not always been the top schools and no guarantee they will. You've got to put Alabama in there and also OK as the top 5 with tOSU not far off the pace.

disagree.......you have to look where the recruits are. USC, UF and UT has their state locked down. everyone else has to go nation wide.

Those three are the best three jobs in the nation when you combine a strong recruiting base, fan support, money, facilities, education, hot girls, etc. - the main reasons any big-time recruit will choose to play for a certain school.

I agree about UT and USC, but UF hasnt always had Florida on lockdown, if FSU and Miami ever become contenders again I dont think you'll see that in state dominance that they have had recruiting.

Obviously not, but the talent pool in Florida is seriously deep enough to sustain 3 elite football programs. And of the three schools, UF has to be the most attractive to recruits when you factor in everything like resources and fan support.

Depends on the hire. Only schools that will always be a top job regardless are Texas, ND and Ohio St.
U$C had trouble getting 60k people in the seats during the lean years. A bad hire will drop the program.

It very well may lose its luster, depending on who they hire. People have short memories - USC wandered in the wilderness for about 20 years until they found Carroll.
It happens to all of the major programs. Oklahoma had a long dry spell until they found Stoops, Texas did the same until Brown, Florida struggled for a long time until Spurrier. LSU wandered forever it seemed until LSU found Saban.
ND, Nebraska, and Miami are currently in dry spells as well because of poor hires, though I think Nebraska may be about to come out of it, and possibly ND with Kelly.

At present I think Florida and Texas are teh top two jobs in college football. Because of their locations and facilities.
USC is clearly not... because their facilities lag well behind.
Now they are one of the best programs of teh last decade and one of the best programs (top 2-3 at worst IMO) in modern college football (since integration)... but this is a very different thing from being definitively the best job
Someone mentioned Notre Dame and they are a great name program but their location (weather and recruiting) hurts them as does their recent ineptitude
