That was in the 90s! He spent the last 18 years in the NFL...NFL, last 3 under belichek

this isn't a guy who may get a HC job b/c he's a good OC
this is a guy who literally does not want to be OC. and he's old. that combination isn't going to work out long term

Not gonna happen if this blows up in his face.
they're going to spin this as Canada being a villain, O being unlucky to hire his guys in 2018, probably blame the fanbase for the toxic environment, and say that SE was just a stop gap who sacrificed for his beloved LSU and we need to let O have a "real search"
we'll likely win 8-9 games so Alleva won't be under fire to get rid of O

Alabama OC by SlowFlowPro
he's also been an OC for 3 different teams
...
in the NFL
And he didn’t do very well.
32nd ranked offense in 2009 (Cleveland)
29th ranked offense in 2010 (Cleveland)
20th in 2011 (Miami)
In 2012 with KC...24th
Not much statistically that would have predicted success as a college OC.

Right. It’s going to be forgotten that Canada was actually Ed’s guy
Posted on 1/9/18 at 8:54 am to DBG
I just refuse to believe that will actually work
Posted on 1/9/18 at 8:55 am to nextmanup
He coached in the NFL for the Patriots ok dude. Lol

You know what that points to? It means that for the truly elite head coaches, coordinators don’t fricking matter.
Saban has had 5 OCs, going on his 4th DC. Meyer loses DCs, loses Herman. Swinney wins a title AFTER Chad Morris leaves.
That’s what people don’t realize.

that wasn't the argument
OP is arguing "familiarity" is all that we need, ignoring the infinitely better resume of Daboll compared to Ensminger

okay....and?
Seriously. I don't understand why you are trying to convince me E will not succeed.
I do NOT believe all of this "whining" is going to change a thing. Thus, I will wait and see. I will cheer like hell for the coaches and players on LSU's team. As either are replaced, I will cheer like hell for the "new" dudes.
I do not feel the need to express that E is a "bad hire" so that, at some future date, I can say "I told you so!". It just isn't important to me.
And, again, I do not think any negative posting is going to change the situation. Maybe I am incorrect and you "protestors" WILL make a change. I have been wrong before. I can handle it.

Whining never changes anything. But this is a message board, it’s a discussion forum.
The site wouldn’t exist if we all just decided to wait and see

they don't b/c the elite head coaches have an overall philosophy that they instill in their team and coaching staff
they're also smart, willing to adapt when given evidence, are creative, and have an annoying level of attention to detail
there are some amazing stories about bill snyder and his strict schedules and attention to detail.

I'm not sure where the Wins are coming from.
Miami, UGA, Bama, at Tam, at Auburn, at Forida
It absolutely pains me, but I just don't have confidence with Ed O. I hated the hire, but supported LSU. Thinking he could change and was very optimistic with Canada. After this year, I'm just shaking my head. I'm not a fan of firing a coach after 2 years, but I'm not sure what you do if LSU loses 4-5 games in year 2 of O. LSU has screwed itself with an outrageous buyout!

that wasn't the argument
the argument is that even in the best case scenario where he does succeed, it's for a year, MAYBE 2. then we have to do this again
he does not want to be OC. he's doing this b/c he loves LSU and O/the admin begged him. this will not last, even in the best of times

So we're still comparing O to Saban?
Do you not the see the difference there?

I agree, If LSU wants to put an end to this shite, tell O if you want Ensminger so badly, lets reduce your buyout!

Not a big name but did pretty well. And he was a GA on Saban's Michigan St staff so he went with someone he knew and was comfortable with.
The difference is Saban and their #1 recruiting class year after year.
We have neither so its not apples to apples.

This is getting as old as the “wait till next year” crowd. How long have we been “waiting to see”? In all these years, what has changed? Not a damn thing. We need a complete overhaul on our offensive philosophy and a staff, BOS, and TAF that is 100% commited to WINNING instead of accepting the status quo and “waiting to see” every year. what we are doing is literally the definition of insanity.

The Cheerios are really grabbing at straws now. Ponamsky's troops are in total disarray.
He must be working overtime to get the script overhauled this morning since O proved what he really is.
