Kyle Flood, previously of the Atlanta Falcons and Rutgers, has agreed to join the coaching staff at the University of Alabama, BamaOnLine.com has learned.

Multiple sources told BOL that Flood, who will celebrate his 48th birthday on Sunday, is expected to take over position duties from Brent Key, who recently joined the staff at his alma mater, Georgia Tech.

Flood spent the last two seasons with the Falcons, where he worked with Steve Sarkisian, who is expected to oversee the UA offense moving forward. Flood served as assistant offensive line coach for the club in 2017 before taking on the role of senior assistant in 2018.

Prior to his time in Atlanta, Flood served as both head coach (2012-2015) and as an assistant (2005-2011) at Rutgers. In 2012, he guided the Scarlet Knights to their first-ever Big East championship, picking up league coach of the year honors in the process.

I hear Marquand Manuel is available for DC since Saban seems to be going the route of failed Falcons staff.

How long before he bolts and when he does will he let Saban know before the next staff meeting?

Flood was a classic case of a good coach who got in over his head.

Solid pickup by Saban, but I would have thought Alabama could do better...

I'm not sure about doing better. Flood was once an up and coming coach and he's only 42. Maybe he wants to take part in the "Saban Rehab Program" that seems to be taking place over the last few seasons.

If Saban hires Greg Schiano as DC he could reunite the old Rutgers crew.

Pete Golding is likely to be DC if Alabama can’t pry Jimmy Lake from Washington.
