Serious q- would he be a candidate if he never coached at A&M?

A&M is notorious for getting guys that “get” A&M and “he’s one of us”. That’s very outdated and dangerous

Assume he never coached at A&M, you can’t say with a straight face he’s the best candidate.

A&M sees what LSU has and decided to hire from from the Brian Kelly tree.

I like it. What he’s done in a very short time at Duke is impressive. And he knows what worked, and more importantly, what DIDN’T work under Jimbo. This program needs that right now.

And he’s been a part of very successful Aggie recruiting classes, and the players love him.

Liucci says Elko will keep Elijah Robinson on staff in an increased role.

Should've just hired him first.

I think he will actually do a decent job if he gets the right oc.

Elko is a perfectly reasonable hire. That's it.

LSU fans posted this same thing over and over again last offseason and ended up with one locker room cancer who got kicked off the A&M team weeks before the season ended

He’s the exact hire most of us had in mind. And wanted. It’s the reason why the Stoops thing was so nuts.
No he isn’t. And what’s the difference between he and Stoops specifically?

This.

I’m just glad we’ve arrived at this point.

That’s all well, and good, but taking Liucci’s word for it would be a mistake

Acting like taking a chance on a kid as talented as Harris is the bad move? Harris will likely be starting for LSU next year if pieces fall in place…at least BK could keep him from smoking weed in the locker room and doing Tokyo drift in a parking garage

I’m not going to assume he never coached at A&M. Because Elko coached at A&M, I saw what kind of coach he was. He was my first choice all along once Jimbo was let go.

I had thought Elko preferred to stay in Durham.

If he doesn’t spend 75% of the season suspended again.

I mean considering how thin our db room was at the end of last year, you can’t fault Kelly for bringing him in. Fair point regarding playing time but dude can be really good if he just gets his head on straight. Will he do it? I hope so for his case. Massive waste of talent if not

I hope Elko takes the job. And then promptly makes a video where he shreds that little plaque into pieces

All jokes aside, I think it's a solid hire.
