Is that really realistic? A&M has one top 5 finish in the last 75 years of football and that was with a freaking 3 star QB who won the Heisman 6 years ago. And that team finished in third place in the West. Facts are facts.

Just some things I noticed.

1) LSU was only behind TAMU, Florida, and Texas in Donations, beating out tOSU, Michigan, Bama, OU, Auburn, FSU, and PSU. Not bad.

2) A little shocked at how low UGA is on that list. I'm sure that won't last long.

3)Our 3-year football revenue is mightily impressive with being only 4th behind Texas, Bama, and Michigan (stadium expansion probably helped us with this one).

4) Why women's basketball as a third measure? Is their sport the third highest grossing sport in the NCAA behind football and MBB? Just seems beyond silly to only measure 3 sports and not the who entire athletic department, expenses included.

They should compare their baseball and gymnastics revenues.

Aren't the donations specifically for the stadium demolition and reconstruction? What is the average donation per year for Aggy?

Not a damn thing.

I will say I graduated from LSU with a pretty worthless degree from A&S, however, I would have thought it would have been better networked than what it was. I called up to the A & S offices one time before I graduated and got the "have you tried a job fair" response.

LSU is not the only school that suffers from this though. I got my MBA from another university and it was the same kind of thing. You are just comparing LSU to a great networking university.

I basically had to work/network myself to get everything I have, which still isn't a whole lot. I was making a little over $30k 10 years removed from undergrad, but I'm upwards of more than double that with a company car.

Like I said it's not a great living, but it's nice for MS.

I wish I could credit LSU, but I also try to go out of my way more to help people because I remember what it was like not getting any help.

a&m's revenue is greatly distorted due to contributions for the stadium overhaul. it was not long ago that the aggies athletic department was IN THE RED. when their stadium is paid off, their revenues will drop significantly.

your intent on trying to prove the aggies get more money than LSU is just tejas bragging; blowing smoke. hot air. A BLATANT MISREPRESENTATION.

truth hurts.

I went to both schools. Alumni at A&M are way more inclined to give back to the school. Coincidentally the school and their network help you land a job much better than LSU. LSU gives two flying fricks while youre there and where you are headed

This couldn't be more correct.

Sorry but you have no idea what you are talking about. As twk explained the Capital Campaign (about $20 mill of the $194 mill) is what is the "one time" money. A&M did it the right way in building the stadium, it essentially started over with everyone's donation levels. Thus the value of being grandfathered in to great seats at bargain prices are over. The annual licenses are big bucks. The challenge is making sure you can keep people buying them.

Of course that would be a concern but A&M is now over 60k students and has been cranking out 13k grads a year. Aggie grads also get paid a lot of money, mainly because of our huge Engineering school (esp the petro focus) and our network/loyalty to our own. You have a LOT of Aggies who own businesses with a LOT of money, esp in petro. That is a combination for both volume of people that want tickets and the ability to pay for them. A&M has about 400k alumni. It also doesn't hurt that the BCS metro has grown tremendously and we are the closest Big 5 school that you can see big time football to Houston which has 6.3 million in the Metro which is a hell of a lot more than the entire State of Louisiana. The demand side of the curve is massive and growing due to the growth of Texas.

So the only challenge is to make sure to give the fans what they want. Obviously you want to win but in the meantime you need to show a commitment to winning and having a fantastic gametime atmosphere that people want to go to. A&M has invested big time in providing the right product.

BTW, LSU fans are right to show how you have beaten our arse for the last several years. It's a vallid measure. Just remember though that it wasn't long ago that Arkansas was able to do the same thing to A&M. It also wasn't THAT long ago that A&M was reeling off a bunch in a row against LSU to the point you stopped playing us. Assuming that LSU will forever dominate the series with A&M simply because you are LSU is naive.
