No dispute. I see it first hand everday, that Aggie ring is an instant network. That said, depends on your major at LSU...some careers network well at LSU..most don't.

Yea and thats bad. I was in the AG department(in an AG school) and it was a give us your money for the education, youre just a number here, and see ya on my way out the door. Oh dont forget to tell us your address so we can ask you for money

It was an eye opener when I went to A&M how poorly LSU is run

A&M needs to win every year for the next 7 years to become even, won't happen

LSU's weakness is their alumni. We're not as rich as this board makes us out to be when compared to some other schools. We do just fine in revenue but in other areas like donations LSU is very weak compared to most of the SEC.

Didn’t you go to A&M for grad school? It’s naturally going to be a better, more personalized experience.

I’m not knighting for LSU here, compared to A&M we don’t do a good job with our alumni base. But IMO, a lot of the onus is on the students/alumni. I think it mainly comes from LSUs position in the state vs. A&M’s in TX.

LSU is the behemoth, doesn’t have competition, and is often taken for granted. A&M has had to position itself with and against UT over the years.

Is because LSU puts forth no effort to put its graduates in positions to succeed. I got an undergrad and masters from LSU, worked for LSU for 6 years ultimately managing a big facility, and not once did anyone from the department offer any help in getting a job anywhere. The only thing I got was a suggestion of going to another school and get your PHD so you can come back and possibly teach.

What about that situation makes me want to give them my money so they can continue to do the same to other students. I mean shite what do they do to the no name guy in the dept that just goes to class and thats it?

Yeah, I agree with you. LSU leadership like the State of Louisiana has pretty much lacked vision except when Emmert was here.

Eh, a lot of that is on the student. But as we said earlier some departments are better at this than others.

Perhaps giving back and focusing your investment into internship programs or underwriting some initiative with the career center and your Department would help?

I turned down grad school there. I took the undergrad route because of various reasons. The program director practically begged me to get in the grad program because of my previous degrees and performance(and their grad program was new), but I wasnt in the 'college rah rah' mood. I wanted to get the license and gtfo. Even with the fight over grad school, I was treated better there than I ever was at LSU.

Ive thought about doing it with both schools. The problem is is that I dont have any trust in LSU.

The only thing I can think of that LSU couldnt mess up would be to go directly to the department and say here is X amount of money, this is for a scholarship to a specific applicant of my choosing from my criteria, and im not giving you this money unless that happens. Other than that, the money imo is going to be pissed away.

That can be done via the Foundation. Talk to someone in the development office for your college. You won’t be able to hand pick the student, but you can set the criteria for the selection.

And thats where Louisiana creeps into my mind. Call me cynical but I can see it going like this

Mr Jones is giving a scholarship to pay for a students tuition
Here is his criteria
Ok tell the students
Here are all the submissions
Yea we are gonna give it to Jane Doe because thats my buddy's daughter
Let him know we appreciate it and want the same thing next year

tbh. im probably going to do it anyway but im skeptical

You can’t hand pick the student because it doesn’t meet the IRS guidelines for a charitable deduction.

You’re being cynical in this regard, namely because of how funds flow from the donations made to the Foundation for things like scholarships.

lsutigergolfer at gmail if you’d like to chat further off the board. I’ve got some direct knowledge of how these are handled.

Which could've easily been in the 60's with total offense in the 700's.

Didn't we hang 50 + on them last year too?
