The hard thing to swallow about a possible jimbo hire is going to be justifying a 12 million a year contract with likely a full contract buy out.

I think it is absurd to force any coaches on a HC hire of this caliber. Untouchable assistant coaches shows a lack of trust to the new coach, IMO. And nobody wants Raymond back as much as me. Should still be the new coaches call. Perhaps it is already understood though. It may be best to not assume.

Coaching the XFL is nothing like the stress of a major college job, IMO.

I think taking the XFL job was a signal to the coaching world that he's not totally done with coaching, more than that job itself being significant.

It’s Chris Petersen. Woody would have been working him since early last season. I don’t care what the guy says. In the end, money talks. Always has.

You’d be surprised what a coach like LRiley understands. He knows this area needs 2 or 3 familiar faces to use in recruiting. Especially when that first signing day hits and some of these kids will be left wondering if their main recruiter won’t be here anymore

...or maybe the new coach already had conversations with said coaches? Any head coach worth a salt knows Raymond, Joseph and Faulk/ what they have produced. You have to keep some continuity with staff, especially if they are top tier like Raymond.

Please tell me what Kevin Faulk has produced. Before answering, pretend his name is Tommie Robinson.

Are you fck'n kidding me. Idiots can't get out their own way. So now what? This is sad. it really is. None of those guys are great coaches IMO.

Ok, Vol…

Does Woodward have a handshake deal done with someone?

Handshake deal meaning, all the pieces aren’t in place, but he is coming.

Faulk just had a child die. I don't think anyone wants to turn his life upside down, any further this year.

You also know it signifies his interest in getting back into the game.

Not necessarily. He could've just been doing it for fun. Taking a no-stress job in a fledgling pro league doesn't signify he's ready to get back on the recruiting trail and kiss the asses of boosters.

PLUSSSSSSS, he left OK making about $5M a year. I would imagine almost doubling that is awfully appealing. Any man with children isn't pissing that away, if offered.

His children are in college. He and his wife bought a home in Chicago since he left OU. And he just got into television work. He's not worried about money.

I love these threads. They're so entertaining. Almost as much as the OT threads.

There are 3 for sure and 1 on the fence being retained for the new coach to decide on who he wants.

The 4th is Moffitt, FYI

I said before that I believed Woodward has already made his hire. Those who are denying contact with LSU or interest in the job know it has been filled.

We've heard nothing (as far as I know) from Riley or Dabo...kinda interesting.

From what has been said, it seems like Stoops or Peterson or Aranda or jimbo and I am quite fine with any of those
