1st game: Team A gains 125 total yards, has 6 first downs and scores 0 points

2nd game: Team B gains 303 total yards, has 13 first downs and scores 16 points

Team A: Coach is coaching in his fourth game as team's head coach. Is a defensive coach. Has a TE's coach as offensive coordinator who has also only been there for 4 games. Has not had time to make dramatic changes to the team's offense. Was playing an undefeated team that is regarded as the best in the country with more talent than team A.

Team B: Coach is coaching in his second season in his 22nd game as team's head coach. Is considered a great offensive coach. Has a seasoned coach as offensive coordinator. Has had plenty of time to install his offense. Was playing a team that had only won two games for the season. Was playing a team that is 5th of 6 teams in the West division of it's conference and has less talent than team B.

No loss is impressive for a team. But, which team's loss would be considered to look better based on the situation each team was dealing with?

No one should care about your useless game. It's clear who you want (or in this case don't want) for the LSU job.

There were no names mentioned in my post. I was just wondering what people's opinion would be in case my hypothetical situation occurred.

I just came up with a few stats off the top of my head and then dreamed up some background information for each hypothetical team to paint a more discernible picture.

"The events depicted in my post are fictitious. Any similarity to any team or person living or dead is merely coincidental."

STOP. No one in their right mind wants Orgeron over Herman.

So two votes to zero for Game 2 being more impressive

I will always take 16 points over 0 points. And you should too.

16 would be win the Bama game.

But game 2 in my hypothetical wasn't against Bama. As stated it was against a team who previously that season had won only 2 games in another conference than Team A.

I'll take my chances of Herman preparing for 2 weeks against Saban than Coach O preparing for a year against Saban.

Based on how well Herman prepared against Ken Niumatalolo and Chad Morris?

Regardless of the quality of the opponent, you can't win a game without scoring any points.

That wasn't the question to my hypothetical situation and both teams lost. One to the top ranked team in the the country. The other to a team who had only won two games all season and was the fifth best team in Team B's division. Not the conference but the division.

Your question was which is better. Scoring points is always better because you can't win with 0 points.

You can pick all the hairs off the turd before you eat it, but at the end of the day it's still shite.

Did team 2 actually run plays that MIGHT be successful? Cuz we know team 1 didn't.

People aren't pissed about scoring 0 against Bama. Its the fact that the whole world could be told you that game plan was not going to work, and hasnt for 5 years.

I said within the first drive "I hope this isn't the plan all night"

Don't know but since they lost to a 2 win team, in the hypothetical, it wasn't very successful that day.

Since scoring 0 points guarantees a loss in college football, I'll go with B.
