Wow, assuming you get more than 10 in the bowl., there is an upswing in points in year 4 at both BYU and LSU. Maybe if he gets a year 5 it will continue for you guys?

funny there is not stats of him in HIS THIRD year going 13-3 with JIM MILLER as QB with the bears AFTER two straight losing seasons. or is there?

"This razzle-dazzle offense, once it's figured out, won't be anything." Crowton certainly put some dazzle in a historically bland Bears offense. A longtime college coach, Crowton's offense featured five wide receivers and the shotgun on first down, tight ends split out wide, receivers lining up at running back, to three tight end sets. And Crowton blew the NFL away with his wide receiver screens, thrown to young, emerging receivers such as Marcus Robinson and Marty Booker for long scores. Soon the entire NFL was using Crowton's signature play. Though Crowton's passing game ranked 3rd in the NFL, best of any Bear team in the modern era, it had a problem. It racked up huge yards but didn't score consistently, as Chicago ranked 25th in that category with 17 points per game. Prior to the 2000 season Crowton crowed (sorry) that he was just getting his offense in gear in his second season, and began to install heavy pre-snap motion packages. Then thanks to the NFL doing just what Cunningham had predicted, along with poor QB play from Cade McNown, the razzle-dazzle offense ground to a halt. And Crowton departed before the end of the season to take over as head coach at Brigham Young University. Crowton was fired from BYU following the 2004 season and now is offensive coordinator at LSU
1999 Bears Team offensive ranking 26th
2000 Bears Team offensive ranking 28th
2001 Bears Team offensive ranking 11th with John Schoop as OC (not Crowton) the year they went 13-3

crowton did actually leave a legacy in the NFL
you know how QBs make those quick reads/throws to WRs when the DB is in off coverage? he is the guy who made it popular

I'm not trying to crucify the guy, I just want him out of LSU. the sooner he leaves the less of a burden he is to us.
I hope he goes to the NFL and does great. Just not at LSU.

2007 article by Josh Harrison-"The truth is Gary Crowton has a good offense. But smart teams are going to figure it out. Guess who was coaching Utah when BYU went scoreless in 2003-Urban Meyer. Most of the coaches in the SEC are almost as smart as Urban and they will shut down LSU’s offense. LSU has great athletes and he will find a way to make them look bad."
This sums up Crowton and his razzle dazzle offense. Once the other teams have watched the film, it is easy to defend against. Not so complicated. Yes, good QB play is essential to making an offense look good but good play calling is also essential to making the QB look good.
