Do you guys think we’ll hear anything before a hire is made? Going public seems not to work.

I'm really surprised its taken this long to find a DC hire! Plenty of colleges went public with no problems. Shouldnt be a worry but somehow backfired for us.

NSD is around the corner and still no traction on who we might hire. Not the best look.

One thing that the year 2020 instilled in me is not to be surprised by anything, but I would definitely have to raise an eyebrow if something breaks before the ink is dry this time.

The Nielsen “is close to a deal with lsu” headline was first reported by an NFL reporter. Which side do you think the leak came from?

All I know is they need to tighten up the goal line offense.

Why? I’ve read here Os public declarations and pulling his pants down makes no difference.

Why is O changing his approach and going silent now?

I like the silence but I don't like the time it's taking. We fired Bo a month ago today. We had to have a list of candidates before he was fired. Conditioning workouts have already started and we still don't have a DC.

I heard Ed put out a Craigslist ad for a DC. He’s hoping something promising will shake up soon.

I would honestly say in general speaking...LSU coaching searches tend to struggle. Sometimes they get their #1 guy but a lot of times it's a shite show. I'm not sure if it can be pointed at 1 single issue but several issues with LSU. It's a constant that's annoying. Happened a lot in Miles searches. It's like LSU has to toss more money than anyone else otherwise they have no shot at getting people to come here even with the talent.

Regardless if we know or not beforehand; shouldn't matter.

Whoever is in the decision making process for hiring should step it up.

What are the selling points on a young coach moving his family to Baton Rouge? It’s an almost impossible sell unless you’re hiring a coach with ties here or someone wanting to get out of a frozen tundra up north.

I'm trying to remember the names interviewed to replace Saban...anyone know?

The Miles firing and search process was a complete shite show for over a year

OC search that ended with Cam Cameron lol

Didn't seem like much of a search with Canada

Forced SE to replace Canada

Joe Brady was well under the radar

Replacing Aranda wasn't a search

And why is it an impossible sell? What makes BR so much worse than most college towns?

What is so great about places like Gainesville, Tuscaloosa, College Station, Auburn, Starkville, Norman, etc., etc.?

Baton Rouge is a large enough city with plenty of amenities and things for families to do in and around it. And if you are making the money these coaches make, then your lifestyle in BR is just fine. There are plenty of great neighborhoods and gated communities in and around the city to live, good private schools, society groups and activities. There is nothing wrong with BR from the perspective of someone making a high 6 to 7 figure salary. And there is certainly nothing wrong with it when you compare it to a lot of of other college towns.

Because it’s a shitty town with little to do and one of the highest murder and AIDS rates in the country, there’s trash all over the roads, poverty, limited job market. Coming from a lifelong resident here. There’s certainly some positives about Baton Rouge, mostly culture and nice people, but not something you can drive a candidate by and say “look at this!”

I think we’ll get someone good, but it’s a hard sell to an out-of-state person.

You're describing the BR experience for the avg. citizen or even the below avg. I have lived off and on in BR through college, grad school, law school, and working over the past 20+ years. I have also lived in a few places around the state and out of state. The only place I've ever lived truly better than BR is Nashville. That isn't to say there aren't other places better; but they don't exist in most college towns.

A person with the status of an LSU coach living here isn't going to notice the blighted areas of the city (which just about all towns/cities of any decent population size will have), which tend to concentrate in pretty much 2 or 3 places around town. And a limited job market?? Why does this even matter to someone who is moving here already employed? They don't care what the job market is.

You are undervaluing these things. Culture and the people you will interact with on a daily basis are huge parts about a location and where you live. Just b/c they aren't something easily put on a billboard or noticeable from one drive around; they are sellable aspects.

And as for things to do, BR has plenty of activities and opportunities for people to do from sports to culture to food scenes to quick drives to places like New Orleans, the basin, historical sites, and other options.

Compared to what? Austin and Southern California? Would Fayetteville, College Station, Starkville, Tuscaloosa, and Gainesville be easier sells than Baton Rouge? I agree BR could improve in several areas but it is a pretty nice place only about an hour from New Orleans.

It's almost as if you believe the BS you post. We just "sold" it to a guy with six kids living in Charlotte.
