O will just have Pomansky call someone and ask who they would hire. Then he'll bring them in and hire them. Pretty simple process where O won't even have to turn on his brain.

They say Odom is 1B. I have a gut feeling Freeman does leave LSU today with being the next DC. If he turns it down its because of an HC opportunity. Money wont be a factor.

This may be true. But his last attempt to transition us from a 4-3 to a 3-4 didn’t go very well. He didn’t prove to be very flexible about it the way Aranda was, and that’s exactly the same kind of problem we had with Pelini.

I am not saying Steele would be anything close to as bad as Bo. However, I could see a very average couple of years to get into his system.

Freeman runs a 3-3-5 so we'll be transititioning anyway

I thought Freeman's base was a 4-3 but his nickel package was 3-3-5 instead of a more traditional 4-2-5 alignment. Is that not correct?

I've very often been sarcastic in these threads over the years. But, seriously, how can Odom be the second choice if LSU has apparently stated they will hire a minority DC? It has to be Richard or another name that hasn't been mentioned.

Wait, why is Richard a terrible hire now? Everyone was jizzing over themselves talking about him this time last year. Did he forget how to coach in one year?

He ran a 3-3-5 the entire game against UGA

So I'm not sure I assumed it was that

He has said he isn’t tied to any scheme and adjust to the personal he has. I think we will see multiple looks but primary be in a 4-2-5 look if he were to land here.

To me, Arnett would be a great fit with our personnel and has proven to be decent in this conference

But meathead O wants an “attacking 4-3” defense from 2002

With all the talent we have at DL and DB, especially safety, a 4-2-5 base scheme could be effective here, especially with most (if not all) offenses running a version of the spread and trotting out 3+ receivers for every play. When both Aranda and Pelini were running things, we were not in our base 3-4/4-3 defense very often because of personnel matchups. .

I don’t think LSU said any such thing.

Well that's what was reported by local writers and posted on this site just a few days ago.

Richard as a safe option for O to fall back on. He's a comfort zone pick for him since ole Pete recommended him last year. He would be a terrible signing.

He can't be any worse than Pelini.

Arnett is the only correct choice after Freeman.

LSU never said anything about the color of the coaches. That’s all from RC.
