That strategy didn’t work out for Sparty long term, meanwhile our coach then managed to put together a staff from scratch that produced a ton of eventual P5 head coaches.

ND has a bunch of young up and comers that see ND as their golden opportunity. That’s cool, good for them. We’ll be fine.

1999 Michigan State wasn't on the verge of a playoff berth.

Even if they all stay, Kelly hired them to ND. He has a great eye for finding talented coaches. It’s going to be fine

I can not condemn ND for this.

The advantages include speed and continuity. I think they should have raided Cincinnati for their new coach again. But you risk loosing your potential HC to another job while trying.

You pays your dollar and takes your chances. Only time will tell.
Fortunately, I don’t care about ND.

Their ad reminded me of alleva.

Did he even interview anyone else for the job? Did Fickell turn him down? It just feels like he gave the job to Freeman to keep him from coming to LSU.

ND also has a very cult like mentality. People want to go to and coach for ND to be part of the cult.

Correct because there were no playoffs back then genius. Michigan State was having their best regular season in decades at the time.

Not saying it's the same exact situation, but didn't Oklahoma State end up giving the HC job to Gundy after Miles left for LSU? He was their OC at the time.

After 1 year tho? I'm sure when they hired him they thought he would have a few years to learn under Kelly
