While we're all waiting for Winds of Winter. This is what George RR Martin is doing.

Are we even waiting anymore? I feel like I’m just losing interest in the series altogether. When it comes out, I’ll read it, but can it ever live up to the ten year or more wait? I guess we’ll see.

Ya, its time to move on. Way too much really good fantasy being put out right now to keep clinging to this false hope.

The last two books need to be re-ordered chronologically, and re-released... probably as 3 books. These last two will probably yield enough content for 4 @ 750+ page books. He needs to focus on the chronology and spit out the first one.

frick that show and series
Imagine if business had been taken care of. Even that series would have been on par as the standard to hold all other shows to. All the money to be made..nowbits worth 1/4 it was and 1/10 what it could have been
Imagine if we could have just got Jon vs Night king..if source material had been there and we didn't have hacks exposing themselves

I don’t even care anymore.
If he doesn’t give a shite about his legacy, I surely don’t either.

If he has any fans left. The guy is out of ideas. Same with the Kvothe guy.

I read the first 3 books way back in 2003 or so. It was the most incredible experience, I couldn't sleep it was so riveting. It became my all time favorite series.
Then I waited two years for Feast to come out. It was a big pile of crap but at the time I made excuses for it.
Then I waited 6 more years for Dance to come out. It was better than Feast but still had issues and didn't compare to the earlier books. But the series had just started on HBO and I was loving that. The series was so good it made up for the lackluster book effort.
So I made more excuses for the fat man. The series kept getting better and revealing secrets so I was satisfied. How will it all end? So many possibilities to ponder.
Then the series ended. I cannot express how disgusted I was. 16 years of waiting and defending that fat arse and this is how it all ends?
Bottom line is he will never finish the books. And even if he did they would be awful. Maybe even worse than HBO.
Best to pretend the series ended at storm of swords.

Is there anyone ghost writing this online? If not, someone needs to.

George R.R. Martin says he has written HUNDREDS! of pages of Winds of Winter.... still hundreds to go.
I take it from this post he hasn't written more than 50 pages in a year for more than a decade.

Martin told fans that he wrote “hundreds and hundreds of pages of The Winds of Winter in 2020. The best year I’ve had on WOW since I began it.

He added, however, that he is reticent to state a completion date. “I will make no predictions on when I will finish.
“Every time I do, assholes on the internet take that as a ‘promise’, and then wait eagerly to crucify me when I miss the deadline. All I will say is that I am hopeful,” he wrote.

Martin's plate is currently very full with "a zillion" other things beyond The Winds of Winter, he said. "My plate is full to overflowing. Every time I wrap up one thing, three more things land on me. Monkeys on my back, aye, aye, I've sung that song before. So many monkeys. And Kong," he said.

All I can say is as someone that has been reading this series for 20 years now, after the show has already wrapped up and a literal decade since the last book:
Who gives a shite
Who gives a shite

I am also of the opinion that he's not discussing work and writing there.

I enjoy following the story for the humor and the jokes moreso than any expectation of reading a book.
See above posts for an example.

I gave up on that a while ago.

I agree it can’t be finished in two.
I think that’s why he’s not finishing it. He’s not willing to tie it up right, because to do it in the same quality would take more work than he’s willing to put in. If he could wrap up the story in two books he probably would have done it by now.
Which means the rest of you are right too, eventually we’ll just get a historical novelization of the tv show that will be more or less a glorified graphic novel in quality.
