The last page of Infinite Jest. As I neared it I kept my hopes up that it was going to close out on a monumental note.

Greg Illes in Natchez Burning or The Bone Tree or whatever. Killed off Caitlyn. Ruined the rest for me.

It’s cliche but easily the Red Wedding. I threw the book across the room at 2am.

How about when Rhomboid betrayed Scapula. That sucked a lot.

The ending of The Dark Tower series. Not so much pissed at the actual ending, but at the unnecessary “warning” inserted by King encouraging the reader to not continue to the end. Came off as very condescending and made what I thought was a good ending seem worthless.

I’ve read a lot of these, but mine is more low brow.

At the end of Grisham’s “The Partner” (I think it was the partne), he just wanted to end the book and on the last page he just had the girl, almost out of nowhere, take all the money and run. Leaving the main character just to shrug his shoulders.

Pissed me off.

Lazy writing. Not nearly developed enough in the book to be a shock/surprise ending.

He'd already crapped on the series by writing himself in as a character. And, yeah, that was pretty bad as well.

Good ending, though. And it was nice to have the series over so he could stop facking it up.

Agree about the Greg Illes book. The ending was so preposterous that I wanted to scream. Will never invest anymore time in his writing
