I just finished The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. I went into it blind and was pretty shocked by the themes at first, but then I settled in and came around to enjoying the novel. It was a masterful tale. I’d recommend it.

I really enjoyed the Doctor Sleep novel. Never saw the movie. The film and written versions of The Shining were both great. The amount of inherent evil in Jack vs the hotel differs between the book and film versions.

Taking a short break from Expeditionary Force.

Did you enjoy Ground State (without spoilers for others)?
I love Skippy and Joe. If expeditionary force ever gets a TV series, I hope RC Bray does his voice.

I'm on an ancient Rome kick right now, so please do let us know if it's an good or not.
Excuse the delay. I enjoyed SPQR as an informative, academic look at the first millennium of ancient Rome; its origin story/founding myths and how it grew and sustained its position for so long. A lot of separating myth from reality, at times focused more on the unknown. Being the first book I’ve read on the matter, it was at times tough to follow. Dense material that doesn’t follow a chronological narrative, a lot of jumping around the timeline she covers. Probably not a problem for someone more familiar with Roman history.

Just finished Beautiful Swimmers: Watermen, Crabs and the Chesapeake Bay. Pulitzer Prize winner in 1977. Excellent!
