The finales usually end with the theme song, no?

This is for anyone who cares to answer, but my wife (no pics) and I started this show a month or so ago and caught up a couple of weeks ago. She loves it and I am ok with it, but one thing I cannot figure out is what in the hell the end game is with this show? Just survive? And has it been said how many seasons they plan on having?

I have asked several people who watch and have not got an answer I am happy with.

TIA!

No flame just opinion here... Does it need an end game? Will humanity ever end?

That's what the show is about

ETA: i'm pretty sure the director said they have enough to do 10 or 15 seasons. They have a ton of material from the comics

The comics just hit the 10 year mark at issue 150+. The show is 'several seasons' behind the comics. The All OUt War with Negan lasts, I think, around a couple of years in the comics. Other plot lines happen after that, but frankly, the comics have kinda 'sucked'for a long time now. Kirkman's goal was to go 300 issues. I think he said he had an ultimate goal in mind, but didn't definitively share it.

It hit a lull in the comics for a while but the last few issues have picked back up with the last one dropping a frickedy fricking hammer.

nah I really think the additional 3 minutes will be used to reveal the victim.

I tried to convince myself otherwise, but I think im on team cliffhanger now. There's just too much pointing towards it. Teasing a cliffhanger and then doing a post-credits reveal would be a slightly less shitty way of handling this scene than just not showing it at all. In my opinion, this scene should be about the what, not the who.

I said this earlier, but hearing the audio reinforced it for me: if they do anything short of showing the victim's head absolutely pulverized into liquid, there will be a huge portion of the audience that questions whether or not they are actually dead. Especially after the line "I'm going to beat the holy hell out of one of you." And it's not 100% their fault, either, as they have already teased 2 big deaths this season.

And the extra 3 minutes is just going to be Morgan and/or Carol finding the guy from the Kingdom.

maybeeeeeeee

I'm still convinced it's the death shot of Glenn.

3 minutes was just recently added to the finale after all the leaks.

The title also was going through some naming issues as well, as some providers had it "Something to Fear" , while most had "Last Day on Earth".

Extra 3 minutes added on prevent any screeners from spilling the beans on the big death scene

If they go cliffhanger, something tells me that they don't know which person they want dead yet and now have a few months to decide. Even people I know who watch and don't look at spoilers have heard that someone gets killed by a bat. It's just a matter of whom now. And if the writers decide to withhold that from now to October then I don't think they know for sure.

Or they make it be a 30 second clip during the 50th minute of Comic Book men to force people to watch that.

You suggesting the writers are holding off writing next season's script? I don't think it works that way. They need to be at least one season ahead (except for rewrites and finetuning). There's a lot that goes into writing/directing. Plus, think of actor's contracts.

What if the leaked audio is from the beginning instead of the end? It plays the opening theme.
I don't like how Negan sounds either. He's a pretty happy-go-lucky guy in the comic.

I'm pretty sure it is Glenn. It just makes sense. Why would they have spent the last few episodes building Maggie's character up as a leader and cutting her hair like a man? It's setting up just like the comics.

11 minutes seems too long for an intro. The clip I posted a link to shows two different camera angles though, so my they show one POV without revealing much and another later.

Wasn't it Glenn who saw the Polaroids of Lucille'd victims a few episodes ago?
It damn well better be him who still gets it, they better not pull another Denise.

Agreed. All signs are pointing to Glenn. Could always throw a curveball and take out Daryl and Glenn though.
