I do a lot of reading without trying to expose myself to spoilers. I have a decent understanding of the references from Mistborn, but you're right, the story isnt complete.

Halfway through Wind and Truth, and I can't do it anymore. The writing has taken a dip, the breathiness is way overdone and the modernisms are frequent and extremely frustrating. Now we also are getting forced SJW agendas? Sigh. It was a good run, but I think I am done with the Sanderson verse. He's lost his way.

I’m still disappointed and annoyed about Wind and Truth. The book didn’t end or solve anything, multiple characters either regressed or fell apart completely, half the plot lines he was developing became meaningless, not too mention all the random fluff and nonsense he shoe horned in for seemingly no reason other than he’s either succumbed to his ego to the detriment of his art or he’s trying to fit in with a crowd he shouldn’t be. Bummer. The more I think about it the more I hate that book. Hopefully he sticks the landing in 10 years or whatever and this book was just a bump in the road.

Yeah, Breesus, I am right there with you. I was reading that Sanderson doesn't have his longtime editor anymore, and it shows. W&T is a mess, and it's not worth my time to continue on with this massive tome

I will be hard pressed to start the next five. Very frustrating conclusion to the first five. And I’ve never gotten into the rest of the cosmere.

I love the Cosmere and I’m still amazed at the creativity and scale of Stormlight. There are some creative decisions I didn’t love but I still am engaged with the series. It’s a monster of a series and W&T was a monster tome. It’s not ever going to be perfect but I’m still on board. Just hate that it’s going to be years before we get another. Sanderson is probably stretched too thin.

I don't think it really is a question anymore. I brushed off RoW as it was more of a "let me explain the science and lore" book but W&T just has some really weird writing. The SPs were fun but I really do think he stretched himself way too thin and let everything kind of get away from him.

He really painted himself into a corner making W&T 10 days. So many parts just felt like he was stretching it out to fit that format. Shallan was just multiple cat and mouse moments with Mraize. Adolin was cool but felt long. Szeth worked. Kaladin worked. Parts of Dalinar could've been a memo. Rlain/Renarin was weird. I knew it was coming but they finally meet BAM and....that? is their argument?

It feels like the bigger he gets he just focus groups the frick out of everything. I still mostly enjoyed it and I'm not off the train completely but it is definitely my least favorite MB/SLA book. Hopefully the break and focus on MB will get him right again.

I was ok with W&T but it certainly wasn't my favorite.

I think the several years off writing Mistborn 3 will honestly do him a lot of good.

He just needs to let some books breathe a bit. Since RoW everything reads the same. W&T just felt like a really long mistborn book. Even RoW had some moments like that.

I want that level we had from WoK to OB. The writing was so much different then and everything just built up to a great final act.

This. We love Sando cus he actually pumps out content but if he needs a break just tell us. His secret project program was awesome but I think that put MORE pressure on himself to get stuff out. Take your time on Mistborn and just give us a honest timeline, no one will bitch.

He has given a pretty honest timeline on MB3. Instead of jumping around series he is spending the next 3 or so years writing all 3 MB era 3 books. Then another year or so for editing and another year or so to get to print. So 5 years or so on Era 3. He wants to do them at the same time so he can change things around if he needs to.

He may do a Stormlight novella during that time but not much else.

I just went back and relistened to the last few chapters of W&T. I have to say, I enjoyed the hell out of it. I like how it left off. Very clever and very unexpected. I don’t love every creative decision but overall I enjoyed the book and I’m excited to see where things go. Freeing Odium from Roshar and making him go into hiding from the other shards. Ending it with Wit deciding to find Valor. The story is really on a cosmic scale now and I’m fine with it. I’m interested in the shards.
