Is Stormlight better than Mistborn? For whatever reason, I didn't love the Mistborn series. I know they both take place in the same world.

They aren't on the same world actually - Wax and Wayne is on the same world as mistborn set many years later (western sort of technology) and it is Sanderson's best series thus far IMO.

Stormlight is better than mistborn, but it is really big and dense. Oathbringer, book 3, didn't really do it for me - it wasn't bad but just didn't feel cohesive maybe, not sure what the right word is. But the 2nd half of Book 1 and all of Book 2 in Stormlight I thought were awesome.

Not the same world, but they are part of Sanderson's Cosmere, aka the same cosmic universe.

Mistborn will supposedly eventually be 4 different Eras. We are on Era 2 right now. The first trilogy is one of the first series he has ever written. It is really enjoyable and pretty damn dark for Sanderson at times. I prefer the 2nd Era, Wax and Wayne, so far. Its fun and unfinished.

Stormlight is what he considers his magnum opus, connecting the Cosmere together. I love it. There are parts of it that are better than others for sure, but I really enjoy it. The first book is the strongest so far imo.

It’s extremely helpful to be borderline religious about routine and work. GRRM and writers like him spend too much time fricking around and going to conventions and shite to write. They get distracted by the other things that come their way. Like TV shows. Sanderson doesn’t. He diligently works to produce writing. His job, his hobby, his down time is writing or otherwise honing his craft.

Anthony Ryan and Brian McClellan are the same. Brent Weeks is pretty good about it too, but the other 2 and Sanderson produce so much work it’s beyond most people’s comprehension.

I think there are a good number who work at similar paces - but Sanderson is so well known cause he hit the jackpot finishing off Wheel of Time and basically absorbing an entire fanbase who had been built up over his career.

Sebastian De Castelle seems to put out quite a lot, Michael J. Sullivan, Mark Lawrence probably has close to double digit books out as well. Stephen Erikson, though he has definitely slowed down some, but he put out a massive 10 book series at about 1 per year.

Sanderson also has just an insane number of ideas bouncing around - and he wants to get them all on paper. Other authors have a different process and are a little more selective about what they want their story to be, how refined they want to make it before moving on to something else.

Some of these older authors like Salvatore, Robin Hobb, L.E. Modessit i've never gotten into but they have absolutely massive collections of finished novels.

The praise for the Wax and Wayne Trilogy+1 is well deserved. Looking forward to Sanderson getting the conclusion out soon. Think it's the second thing he'll work on after finishing up Stormlight 4.

But I really think that my sneaky favorite book so far is "Warbreaker."

I am meaning to pick that one up as well. Have heard a lot of really high praise for that one.

It's really good. He does a fine job of character development in it.

Plus, it'll help out with some of the things in Stormlight.

Is this one a stand alone, or is it part of a series?

It's standalone. Set in the Cosmere universe (same as Mistborn and Stormlight Archive), but it's on a different planet with different characters.

Warbreaker 2 will like be worked out after the first era of Stormlight Archive is done (Book 5 is the end of the first era).

As previous posters have said, it's currently stand alone, but will likely have a sequel at some point in the future.

*SPOILER ALERT FOR (particularly) STORMLIGHT 3*

However, so far, three characters from "Warbreaker" have Worldhopped to Roshar, with obvious roles/appearances.

This. Wax and Wayne is his best stuff so far, but Warbreaker is next behind them for me.

Half way done with words of Radiance right now. Gonna do all of mistborn afterwards and then Oathbringer before release in November

Edit: in the section now when Kaladin and Adolin join to fight in duels. This is probably one of my favorite parts in the second book.

This. There are many cameos from Warbreaker throughout the first three Stormlight books.
