Took me longer than it should have to read this last book after blowing through "Ready Player One" in a couple of days.

It’s pretty good. Not really at all what I was expecting.

It’s a bit self indulgent at times (a 10 page chapter that contains one single very long sentence).

But some of the social satire is great and really on point with what we see today.

I’m wrapping up number 12 right now. Work has been nuts this quarter. Not near as far as I was hoping to be, obviously.

Cool thread. Finally got back around to trying to read more. I just kept it simple this year and went for 12 books (one a month). Didn't want to go to crazy with an 18 month old and family obligations.

So far this year:

1. Meat Eater, Steven Rinella, 256
2. American Buffalo, Steven Rinella, 304
3. Coyote America, Dan Flores, 288
4. Hunting trips of a Ranchman, Theodore Roosevelt, 240
5. The Wilderness Hunter, Theodore Roosevelt, 204 (Technically 4 and 5 came bound together as one paperback, but were originally published as 2 seperate books)
6. America's Snake, Ted Levin, 520
7. Beyond Fair Chase, Jim Posewitz, 128

Reading "The Strenuous Life", by Theodore Roosevelt now. Have "Man and Nature" by George Perkins Marsh to read at some point too, and may finally read "Walden" all the way through.

75 books looks unlikely, still hoping to hit the 60 mark at least.

Alphamicro is beasting it BTW

Any suggestions from anyone?

Has anybody read How to Read a Book by Mortimer Adler? I've considered getting it, but just curious on someone's thoughts who has read it already, I'm just kind of on the fence with it.

A few years back, I was reading over 100 books a year. As you can guess, my obsession killed my social life so I've dialed it way back. Every year I'm reading fewer. Last year I read 52, this year my goal is 40. So far:

Power and Empire -Tom Clancy/Marc Cameron, 582
The Core - Peter V. Brett,781
Vicious Circle - C.J. Box,36o
Middlesex - Jeffrey Eugenides,529

The Switch - Joseph Finder,373
Skullsworn - Brian Staveley,304
Two Kinds of Truth - Michael Connelly,402
Poison - John Lescroart,304
The Late George Apley - John Marquand,368
Fools and Mortals - Bernard Cornwell,371
The Woman In The Water- Charles Finch,292
German Boy- Wolfgang Samuel,448
The Shadow of What Was Lost - James Islington,602
The Autobiography of Henry VIII- Margaret George,939
Why Kill the Innocent - C.S. Harris,335
In This Our Life- Ellen Glasgow,350
Alcatraz #1259 - William Baker,246
The Lost Order -Steve Berry,493
An Echo Of Things To Come James Islington,752
