That one looks better than the dvd 480p version.

No i dont really agree with it either. But its just hypocritical to decide that dr suess being out of print is horrible but people trying to ban nwa or cancelling the dixie chicks tour for speaking out against bush was any different - it the wedding cake thing as another poster said.

Honestly, I don't even know the reason that the Dr. Seuss books are the subject of this new controversy, and frankly, I don't care.
You fricking should. Here’s another children’s book that I’d highly encourage you to read so you can understand what is happening to us and this country. We’re well past the cookie and the little fricker is now asking us to put is picture on the fridge.

There’s a difference between baking a cake and having a copywrited property that is meant to be shared with the world. There’s a reason we have public domain and don’t allow one family to sit on a property or technology for dozens of generations.

I still laugh at the fact the "Moral Majority" is now solidly a progressive liberal movement, religious zealotry and all.

It is the same outcome.
Not really.
One involves only the publisher.
The other involves many other people.

It’s bull shite if you buy an intellectual property just to bury it and never allow it to see the light of day. I really think if you sit on some trademark or copyright for 5 years and deliberately do nothing with it and refuse to distribute it, then it should go in public domain.
A lot of that stuff is written into contracts and publishing rights will likely revert to his estate after a period of tine

We are living in the same American capitalism we have had for decades. I think it needs a lot of work personally.
Have you just woken up from a 10 year coma?

And again, it isnt banned. If people decide that ran a zoo is important enough then it will be printed again

These books were discontinued secondary to poor sales and monetary loss?
is that true? Do you have a rundown of the profitability of each of the over 100 books in the Dr. Seuss library?
Or are you pulling that our of your rear end?

There are a multitude of books banned by major retailers, specifically Amazon/Kindle, and publishers secondary to “cancel culture” that essentially prevents access.
If a book is banned by a retailer, what's to stop other retailers from selling such books?
Love this website. We want to protect the rights of businesses to operate however they want, unless we don't like how they operate.

No, this is like if someone had the copyrights to cake batter at large and refused give or sell it to anyone.

But that's not why they stopped publishing those books.
Ok... then why did they stop? They can go tell the woke crowd to GFY if they so chose.
Maybe.. maybe... the family that owns the royalties is... woke themselves?

If no, then it's freedom.

If the copyright has expired, then some other company could resume printing these 6 books, no?

Yeah, when I’m like 75. Not anytime soon though.

Man... who knew these Dr Seuss books were so critically important to the functioning of society!!!
A book - written in the language of the time, but later judged to be in poor taste - has that big of an impact of society that we should remove copyright protection?
Damn.

The woke movement in this discussion can be boiled down ti a consumer group that has gotten really, really good at organizing in the social media and digital age and is using this collectice to show cleae changing tastes. Whil I think that big tech should be broken up and have other changes to how they are treating.
But that doenst really change the fact that the publisher of dr. Suess can stop print. If their projections forecast that stopping print of these 6 books will lead to more sales of his brand long term, then take it out of print (obviously only thinking of the investment side).
It is still inherently a supply and demand issue, but the demand is being controlled by a collective group who is organized and excerpting public pressure. This isnt new, different groups have consistently done this throughout american history

Or they think cancelling 6 may result in a longer and more profitable run

If there is a market for new prints of this book, when it is available, it will be printed.
If that doesn't happen until you are 75... sorry.
When a book is written, the people who own the rights to said book get to make the decisions. They made a decision that many of us disagree with. Life will go on.

Exactly why i had my theory about giving them 6, several of which were probably bottom sales of the dr suess catalogue

Possible... not the reason they gave... but very possible. Would not the first time a company used one reason in public but really had another reason.
