It's a Halloween story featuring the severed head of a sportswriter, bizarre dreams, classic rock, lots of beer drinking and even a little romance. Plus a shitload of inane conversation.

Get it at Barnes & Noble: Beers Ahead

Or, if you're more adventurous, I'll provide an autographed copy if you email me at BeersAhead at gmail dot com.

Email sent. It sounds like an interesting concept for a book.

Thank you both. They're packaged and ready to go. I'm heading out of town in the morning to sign books in Arkansas, so it might take until Monday to ship them. It will be worth the wait, I promise.

Announcing: Executive Purchasing Program

My publicist has come up with a plan to boost sales of Beers Ahead and I think it’s pretty good. Here’s the outline:

1. Platinum OT High Roller Medallion Level—Purchase Beers Ahead for $1,000,000. You will receive an autographed copy hand-delivered by the author, along with a large tin of his world-famous homemade caramel popcorn and an assortment of his favorite craft beers. For two weeks, he will tuck you in and read chapters to you at bedtime. Includes nightly foot massage.

2. Gold Big Spender--$500,000 gets you a hand-delivered autographed copy, along with an evening of witty banter, a six-pack of Turbodog and 4 boxes of microwave popcorn. Breakfast the next morning will consist of bacon. Lots of it.

3. Silver Splurger--$100,000, signed copy sent for next day delivery and a follow-up phone call from the author inquiring about your family, health, job situation and other personal items. A box of Omaha steaks will arrive the following week.

4. Bronze Ordinary Guy or Gal Level—$16.95 from Barnes & Noble, no autograph; or $19.95 from the author, with autograph. But no beer, popcorn, bacon, foot massage, etc. Strictly for poors.

Reminder to all my peeps in the BR area--book signing today at Barnes & Noble Citiplace, 1-2:30 p.m. No LSU game today so no excuses!

If you're tied up with honey-dos, come Monday evening to the library on Goodwood for readings from Beers Ahead, a talk on novel writing considerations, Halloween and football. 7-8:30 p.m.

If you attend one of these events and whisper the super-secret catchphrase to me, I'll slip you one of these handy-dandy keychain bottle openers.

(The super-secret passphrase is: Beers, the king of Beers.)

Congrats, LR - I've been considering trying to get some outlines of projects in a final format. I'm finally retiring from my part time job and am considering either pursuing a higher academic degree online or, perhaps, writing. Now, I'm pretty lazy so it will probably go nowhere, but I get lots of ideas and not all of them are bad.

I'm curious as to how you went from that stage (approximately where I'm at) to having an agent, a publicist and product actually out in the marketplace - and just the procedures and mechanics of it, assuming I get something in at least editable/completable form?

Man, I could do a whole lecture on that. Unfortunately, I have to head over to the book signing. Email me at BeersAhead (at) gmail and I'll respond privately.

Trick or treat. Just in time for Halloween, the ebook versions of Beers Ahead have been released. Get the Kindle version here and the Nook version here.
