Huey Long by T. Harry WilliamsPosted by red sox fan 13

Has anyone here read it? Saw it at the store and it caught my eye. I know it's the definitive biography of Long and won a pulitzer in 1970. Louisiana history/politics is super interesting to me so I'm thinking of picking it up even though it looks like a long read. If anyone here has read it I'd like to hear some thoughts.

Fantastic book. One of the best biographies I have read, and I have read many of them.
In high school, I did a history term paper on Huey Long's involvement with LSU football and got a lot of my material from that book. That may have been the easiest A I ever got.

I bought it and read it when I moved to Louisiana in the 80’s. Awesome read and helped me understand the politics down there and especially Edwin Edwards at the time. Alabama had crooked politicians, but they weren’t as obvious about it.

Read it many years ago and learned a lot.
Recently picked up a fair-shape first edition at an estate sale for a buck or two, so I can read it again for a refresher.
More good history of that time can be found in a bio of Earl written by two professors from LA Tech and SLU. "Earl K. Long: The Saga of Uncle Earl and Louisiana Politics" by Michael L. Kurtz and Morgan D. Peoples

Good ole Uncle Earl.
My favorite Earl Long book is The Earl of Louisiana by A.L. Liebling. There are some hilarious stories in there.

Read it when I was 12 or 13.
"Fourth Quarters Are Won in March."
Hmm...she is wearing flames.
