Mordecai is also an option and the biggest guess right now.
Book 2 he says:
Carl: How's your head?
Incubus Mordecai: I've had no.... wait, what do you mean?

Could possibly be Mordecai, he'd definitely be in the main character fold and Matt has done a good job of telling very little about his backstory outside of showing what happened with his brother.

He could also be trolling. I don't have Instagram and haven't seen the post, but to date he hasn't made it a defining arc. It was always known in the context, as in, no one has had to say "I'm bi/gay/straight and it is what you must think of when you think of me"
Could be Mordicai and he still enjoyed his time with the granny, or was about to, as an incubus
Chris is the one that comes to mind because of the heavy hinting that Imani is into him and he could reject that, but I don't consider him a main character
Also, I am only half way through book 8 so those of you that finished may know if more of that came out yet

I doubt it, he use to take a lot of crap about having the Critical Drinker in book 3. Drinker was someone that knew Jeff and Matt didn't know him or who he was back then. The subreddit use to be filled with complaints about Drinker, Matt released a big statement denouncing Critical Drinker/his politics and that he has plans to rerecord the old books to fit with the newer voices and remove Drinker from the audio books. Matt is very liberal, he's not gonna troll about that.

Making a main character gay to own the chuds is such a short sighted and ridiculous move no matter what your political persuasion is. Besides Katia and Bautista's romance, there's not another love interest that directly affects the plot. This only serves to detract from the main story and create headlines.

I am guessing it's going to affect the plot as much as the side character Dong did in Parade. I doubt the relationship stuff goes beyond that. Could be something as simple as Mordecai discussing his relationship with Chaco in his backstory.

How dare you not consider Samantha and just about every other character in the books as love interests affecting the plots

Well we know who Samantha is now so I think her true identity will be driving her part of the Ascendancy and plot moving forward.
Seriously though not every story needs shipping attached to it that's what I meant.

I think Matt is going to throw us a curveball there. I think her daughter is the scavenger's daughter, but the scavenger is the father. I think it was Rosetta that discusses some of this in Parade and the choices the AI has in the story.
