Saw that. Also saw the quote from Matt that he’s planning one more book to end the series, but that it will be broken up into 2 parts, so essentially 10 books total.
He said there would be an epub of the full version available through Patreon in the next couple of days. Will likely read it and then be ready for the audiobook on release day.

Dang hopefully will avoid spoilers. Want to start a reread soon to get ready for normal release.

He releases chapters as he is writing them, so spoilers could be out there for a long time now. Patreon members are pretty good about not talking about it.
I would be more surprised if we don't start seeing scam copies popping up over spoilers coming from patreon members.

I may be crazy, but I do both. I much prefer owning and holding a book, but the audiobooks are so entertaining in a different way.
I read first, then I'll listen to the audiobook while I work or something and end up catching a lot I glossed over or missed on the initial read
This is what I've done with this series. I finished book five but I'm on book 2 of audible. It's not the cost effective way to do it, but for a series that's as good as this is on audible, it's worth it. I just struggle to pay attention to audible even when I'm driving so I miss out on stuff. So when it's something I really am interested in reading, I always do physical first.

I did kindle+audible for the series. If you read on kindle, you can usually add the audible for a steep discount. I think I paid $10-12 for each book to get both versions. Doing the same thing for Expeditionary Force now. I have audible but I don’t spend a credit if it’s below $15.

Anybody planning to read Operation Bounce House? It was released this week.

I’m still waiting for my signed first edition copy to arrive from the signed page. They are a bit slow shipping. I have the audiobook, but have heard mixed reviews of the narrator.
Also for DCC, if you don’t own the new edition covers, there are additional stories titled Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret in them.

Narrator is Travis Baldree with Jeff Hayes in it too
Fwiw, he has more credits on audible than Hayes (not that it matters though) and he also joins the DCC cast starting in book 6
I know TB from the 3 books he authored
That said, as someone new to audiobooks, I imagine it is hard to compare to JH.

I just finished book 1 on audible. The narrator is pulling a Patrick Warburton-light. I wasn't a fan of his style.

There is only one book for Bounce House. Are you talking about DCC? Jeff gets better as the series goes on and you are in for a surprise in Book 6, lol.

I think that’s a valid criticism. I will say as someone mentioned above it does get better. I also think Donuts voice improves after book one as well. I think it took Jeff a minute to figure out how he wanted to sound.
Also I’ve read the Patreon edition of Book 8 and I’m so happy I was able to read it but now sad about the wait until Book 9. Nice to have the audio version to look forward to in a couple of months.

I'm pretty sure he outright said he was going for Warburton with Carl.
In later books, it crazy to me that he is still doing all the voices. Even female voices don't sound like a man is doing it

I finished Operation Bounce House. I liked it, didn’t love it. I did full audio instead of alternating with kindle since it was included in my Spotifiy sub. Narrator doesn’t hold a candle to Jeff, but he was still decent. Maybe the fastest talking narrator I’ve listened to. Usually listen 1.2x-1.3x but I had to drop it to 1.0x to keep up. Some cool characters and a couple funny moments. Worth checking out, just try not to compare it to DCC.

I started book 5. A whole lot of stuff coming to a head so far and Carl becoming more and more unhinged
Excited to listen to this one after
So far my strategy of reading something else between books is paying off. Keeps the interest high and stops the burnout. I should stay on schedule to be ready for book 8 on May 12 when the hardcopy comes out, but then I'll be sad about a long gap until book 9

Heads up
Jeff Hayes is right now, at 2:28pm on 3/3/2026 doing a cold read of book 8 on the Soundbooth theater live YouTube channel
I will not be watching because I am only on book 5

Just finished this morning and probably the same.
Even though most everything was going to turn out OK for the protagonists, that was a pretty dark ending.
I was like “damn, Roger. I get it but damn.”

Just finished book 5 and damn he likes to drop bombs in the epilogue
It may be my favorite book so far as the crawlers really treat it as a big frick you to the whole system and a lot of questions got answered
