IMO Arya will either remain No One but still come back to Westeros and avenge House Stark or come back as Arya and avenge her family but end up dying after a heroic act. Either way I don't see Arya having a happy ending .

I am really liking the Red Viper/Ayra and Sansa/Doran comparison. I think the sample chapter that recently released is the end of Ayra being a faceless man, she killed someone that she knew. She isn't far from home in Bravos she could be fricking shite up soon.

I recall reading this theory on here but forgot what it was about. Does it have to do with Arya being hot-headed like Oberyn and Sansa being more calculated like Doran?

pretty much, it is more just pointing out that Martin may be using them to mirror each other. Ayra/Red viper bring attention back to the family and Sansa/Doran run with it.

Aegon is a Blackfyre, a bastard clan of the Targaryens. I don't think he himself knows it, but Varys, Illyrio, and the Golden Company does.

even if this is the case, aegon is as pure dragon/valyrian, if not more so than Dany.

Was listening to some old Iron Maiden...couldn't this be Arya's theme song?

"Flash Of The Blade"

As a young boy chasing Dragons
with your wooden sword so mighty,
You're St. George or you're David and you always
killed the beast
Times change very quickly
And you had to grow up early
A house in smoking ruins and the bodies at your feet

[Chorus:]
You'll die as you lived
In a flash of the blade
In a corner forgotten by no-one
You lived for the touch
For the feel of the steel
One man, and his Honour.

The smell of resined leather
The steely iron mask
As you cut and thrust and parried at the
fencing master's call
He taught you all he ever knew
To fear no mortal man
And now you'll wreak your vengeance in the
Screams of evil man.

[Chorus:]
[Repeat chorus

Ladies and gents, we are being trolled. Completely and utterly, but first some history. The show premiered on April 11, 2011 with the original order placed in March of 2010. The manuscript for ADWD was delivered in April 2011, two weeks after Game of Thrones premiered on HBO. At that point he had 5 books in the bag. They were done before the show even aired. He has been finished with the last book for over 3 years now. In that time he has watched ASOIAF related materials explode in popularity. The viewership of the show has more than tripled, going from 2.22 million viewers for episode 1 to 7.09 viewers in the Season 4/ Ep. 10. For GRRM, there is a lot more at stake than just his book series, its his very legacy.

We know that he has always had a road map done, so much so that he has already told D&D how it is all supposed to end. Currently we have enough material for 2 or 3 seasons. So what if he does give a release date for Winds of Winter? What about A Dream Spring? If Winds of Winter is released around Holidays of 2015, then that means that he will only have three years to write A Dream of Spring. We know that this isn't going to happen if what we have been hearing is true. Which brings us to the troll....

He has been writing and trying to wrap up his opus. He has been laying out the road map for D&D. He hasn't been slowing down, he has been doubling down. ASOIAF was supposed to be 3 books but they spiraled out of control. AGOT was so long that it was eventually turned into the first part of Clash of Kings with SOS being released two years later. That is 3 huge books in a 5 year period (counting 1995 for writing time), 1995 to 2000. He has been having such a hard time finishing the TWOW because he is doing double duty. My prediction is next Comicon, he is going to announce the Winds of Winter release date for Holidays 2015 and then the release date for A Dream of Spring for Holidays 2016. Two books done in 4 years, allowing him to finish an optional 8th book if he so chooses.

Le BOOM, ultimate Martin Troll Job.

NO! I'm right, I know it!

It makes sense if you don't think about.

Did Sean Bean just conform R+L=J????

quote:

Sean Bean might’ve spoiled Game of Thrones a bit. He participated in a Reddit AMA earlier today, which is basically a forum-based interview, and when jokingly asked about Jon Snow’s ignorance, Sean Bean stated “Because he’s not mine!””

That's a great theory, one that I hope is true.

Interesting comment from that page:

quote:

It fits really well with Varys' riddle.
Jon - Anointed by a holy man
Dany - Backed by wealth
Aegon - Grandson of the king

quote:

Actually, I would switch Dany and Aegon. She's unquestionably the daughter of Aerys and would rule by right of birth, whereas Aegon's claim and birth are sketchier and more of his power comes from the financial backing he has from Illyrio.

Here's my predictions for the next book:

Victarion: Blows the dragon horn; dies in dragon flame when Viserion hears the call.

Daenerys: Exacts brutal revenge on Jhaqo's khalasar; turns the tide in the battle for Meereen; uses the Iron Fleet to sail for Dragonstone.

Tyrion: Proves his worth to Dany by controlling dragons; named Lord of Casterly Rock in return.

Mormont: Returns to Dany via the Second Sons; executed by Selmy on Dany's order.

Daario: Executed by the Yunkai; Dany destroys that city.

Arya: Returns to Kings Landing and kills Ser Meryn; heads to Riverlands and kills Payne and Dunsen; finally plants herself among the Freys.

Aegon VI Targaryen, the False Dragon, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm:
Marries Arianne, mashes the armies of Mace Tyrell and Randyll Tarly; takes Kings Landing; learns that Dany has taken Dragonstone.

Tommen: Pardoned by Aegon; exiled to Casterly Rock; murdered by Varys.

Samwell: Becomes Aegon's maester and dragon master.

Margaery Tyrell: Her trial quickly goes against her due to Cercei's plotting; demands trial by combat, loses, then executed.

Cercei: Wins trial by combat; ruins Tommen's rule; escapes to Casterly Rock.

Jaime: Captured by Lady Stoneheart; championed and saved by Brienne; follows her to meet Stannis.

Brienne: Reminds Stoneheart of her vow; leaves to kill Stannis.

Jon: his body is taken to Lady Stoneheart for resurrection; reunites with Stannis; becomes is heir and marries Shireen; learns R+L=J.

Stannis: murdered by Brienne at Shireen's wedding.

Theon: puppet Lord of the Iron Islands controlled by Asha.

Bran: reunites with Jon to become his dragon master.

Rickon: Returns with Davos to claim Winterfell.

How in the seven hell's does GRRM resolve his story lines?

actually i expect dany to kill the leaders of the khalasar and the rest of them bend the knee to her and drogon

she then leads the entire khalasar back to meereen to smash the yunkai who have just taken the lead in the battle even with the naval battle being lost to the iron fleet and the second sons and windblown turning on the yunkai

Right on. In her final chapter, Dany is discovered by Jhaqo and Mago. Per the wiki:

quote:

It was a cruel fate, yet not so cruel as Mago's will be. I promise you that, by the old gods and the new, by the lamb god and the horse god and every god that lives. I swear by the Mother of Mountains and the Womb of the World. Before I am done with them, Mago and Ko Jhaqo will plead for the mercy they showed Eroeh.

It amazes me that this thread stays at or near the first page. I was active for a while, but what the hell else is there left to talk about?

Is The Winds of Winter out yet?
