I don't think he will be on the show, think they just moved The Night's King to the head of the Others.
BTW did you know the guy who read the audio books is on the show? (I just found out last week)

They are pre Game of Thrones novellas.
Dunk & egg take place about 90 yrs before AGOT. It is the tales of the hedge knight Dunk and his squire Egg. They are split into 3 novellas. The Hedge Knight. The Sworn Sword. And The Mystery Knight.
TP&TQ takes place about 200 yrs before AGOT. It's about the original dance of dragons.
The Rogue Prince is the prequel to TP&TQ. It is the latest novella however. It is about King Viserys I's brother Daemon Targaryen.
TP&TQ and the Rogue Prince are told from the viewpoint of the fictional Archmaester Gyldayn

I wonder if there is some important backstory in the new novella that pertains to TWOW. If not, then I don't why the frick he's writing novellas when he should be focused on finishing TWOW. Knee jerk answer is $$$, but I don't believe that's it. He'll make a ton off of TWOW when it comes out and if he jacks around too long and the show passes him up he runs the risk of screwing up an enormous payday for ADOS.

They are 50-100 pages. And they don't take very much of his time at all. Cut the guy some slack. The ASOIAF novels are amazing so to me they are worth the wait. The more stuff we get about this world that he has created then that's all the better IMO. GRRM is not your bitch.
