Yes. This is it. Ser Patrick's banner/sigil was a blue star - ie the Cowboy's star. And the giant that killed him was Wun Won (ie: One-One, ie: 11 which was Phil Sims number when he played for the Giants).
Patrick is the name of one of GRRM's literary, sci fi fantasy friends who is apparently a Cowboys fan.

I think a lot of theories will be either revealed or dispelled in tWoW. There's so many out there that I'm not sure where to start with saying which ones get dispelled.
Hopefully a lot of "this person is really this person" gets straightened out though

Honestly, I hope all the major mysteries are solved in WoW. The following questions better be answered by the end of it:
1) Who is Jon Snow's mother
2) Is Aegon real or fake?
3) Did Littlefinger have Joffrey kill Ned?
4) What are the Others and why are they invading?
5) How did Valyria fall?
6) What is Euron after?
7) What does the Three Eyed Crow want from Bran?
8) What are Varys and Littlefinger's ultimate goals?
I really think these mysteries need to be resolved before the end of the novel to where A Dream of Spring can basically get straight to the point and be awesome. The final chapter shouldn't have that many mysteries going into so we can just worry about the characters and their ultimate fate. The only 2 major mysteries going into the final Harry Potter was whether or not Harry was a Horcrux and Snape's true loyalties.

I do too. I think that kind of like Littlefinger saying "tears" to Lysa, he'll say "soft heart" to Sansa, and Sansa will immediately make the connection. I too think Littlefinger will make it into ADOS, but I think this info will come out in AWOW.

These are my opinions:
1) Lyanna
2) Fake
3) Yes
4) Something that the show has slowly starting to delve into, and that the books need to explain early on in TWoW.
5) I'm thinking either a volcano, a monsoon, or some other natural disaster...or perhaps chemical warfare or even the Faceless Men
6) I think he wants Dany's dragons and he found the alleged Dragonbinder horn...but how come he has no interest in the 'ice' aspect is beyond me.
7) Like #4, that is a huge plotline still shrouded in a lot of mystery and uncertainty. We have no idea if Bloodraven's motives are fully good, bad, or a combination of both.
8) Honestly, hell if I know. Littlefinger just wants to watch the world burn and have Sansa as his consolation prize...as for Varys, I think it's even harder to pinpoint what he wants--does he truly care about his (possible) nephew taking the throne and being a just ruler? He didn't seem too concerned when Aerys buried the Targ dynasty's bed during the Rebellion. And what's his backup plan if Faegon dies??

Agreed. Oh, and A LOT of character deaths need to happen. At least 50% of the POV characters are going to be wiped out.
